Autonomous snow-clearing vehicles: Solutions for winter’s challenges

January 6, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Regardless of whether you believe in “global warming” or the various outlandish claims some environmentalists make, me personally, I’ve noticed that, over the course of my lifetime, the weather has become more and more crazy.

I don’t think the mainstream news media covers the subject enough, preferring to cover the never-ending wars that repeatedly flare up here and there with the same kind of regularity that they did in biblical times.

Living in the UK, I’ve noticed that the north of England is often inundated with water because of unexpected and unprecedented flooding, or trashed by gale force winds that tear down fences and gates in the middle of the night, or snow that blankets entire towns and airports.

And yet, the news media – which is mostly based in the south, specifically London – appears to be oblivious to it all, preferring to keep their cameras on the dances of death by the current generation of warlords around the world. The Role Played by Automation in Data Removal and Privacy Management

October 31, 2024 by Mark Allinson

There are so many statistics we could give you about automation and how almost everything is benefiting from it. One page full of statistics had some relating to data, regulation, and compliance: 58% of businesses are using automation for data reporting and 36% for regulation and compliance.

For data removal and privacy management, automation could be an industry-leading method of keeping people’s data safe. People are literally leaving their data online and open for the taking, with data brokers constantly collecting personal data to sell to third parties.

Below, we’ll explore how automating data removal and privacy management could potentially decrease the rapidly rising number of cyber attacks and help individuals with their online safety. [Read more…] about The Role Played by Automation in Data Removal and Privacy Management

Does Removing the EGR Increase Power?

August 2, 2024 by Abdul Montaqim

Is removing the EGR (exhaust gas recirculation) worth doing or a potential mistake? And what are the pros and cons of removing the EGR? Does it conform to the emission regulation and requirements? All your the questions and doubts will be addressed in this article.

If you have such queries about the removal of EGR and all its drawbacks and benefits will be discussed in this thought-provoking article.

The exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) removal is a systematic design of an emission controlled technology to reduce the emission of nitrogen (NOx) in engines by circulating the exhaust via engine. This balks soot from the rolling up in the engine when it is recirculated with other impurities. [Read more…] about Does Removing the EGR Increase Power?

4 Effective Strategies for Managing Pet Hair in Your Home

February 22, 2024 by David Edwards

For pet owners, the love and companionship of a furry friend come with a fluffy caveat: the relentless spread of pet hair throughout the home.

Whether clinging to the couch, carpet, or even appearing mysteriously on clothing, pet hair can be a persistent challenge that tests the patience and cleaning prowess of even the most devoted animal enthusiasts.

Beyond the aesthetic and cleanliness concerns, accumulated pet hair can also impact indoor air quality and potentially trigger allergies among household members. [Read more…] about 4 Effective Strategies for Managing Pet Hair in Your Home

Robots vs CNCs: What’s better for working metal?

March 23, 2023 by Mark Allinson

By David Alatorre, CTO, Rivelin Robotics

The use of metal additive manufacturing has revolutionized the manufacturing industry, allowing for the creation of complex and intricate parts in a faster and more cost-effective manner.

However, essential post processing of these parts introduces time and financial constraints to the overall cost-per-part that can negate the benefits of additive manufacturing altogether. Support removal is the critical first step of post processing metal additive manufacturing parts, and it is a challenging one.

Today, supports are still essential for part fidelity during the manufacturing process, but they must be removed to achieve the required finished product with the intended shape, features and tolerances. [Read more…] about Robots vs CNCs: What’s better for working metal?

European Space Agency to launch robot to clean up space

December 12, 2019 by Sam Francis

The European Space Agency is planning to send a robot out into space to clean it of debris, which mainly consists of the countless satellites sent into orbit over the past few decades.

The vast majority of these “junk” satellites – communications, weather, military – have operational lifetimes lasting a few years – about five to 10 years, after which there is no system for bringing them back or clear them in any way. (See simulation of space debris around Earth below.)

Some have previously proposed to build robots that can travel to those obsolete satellites to perhaps fix them or make use of them somehow or at least maintain them so they are operational for longer, but that is an idea that is still in development, although also mentioned as part of ESA’s plan.
