AMD given approval to acquire Xilinx

Semiconductor giant AMD says it has received approval from “all necessary authorities” to proceed with the acquisition of Xilinx, a chip maker which specialises in the industrial sector.

With the exception of the remaining customary closing conditions, all conditions to the transaction closing have been satisfied and the company expects the transaction to close on or about February 14, 2022.

ThyssenKrupp sells its elevator business for more than $17 billion

Giant industrial conglomerate ThyssenKrupp says it has successfully completed the sale of its elevator business, marking a further important milestone in the transformation of the company.

The transaction closed after all the responsible authorities had approved the sale to a bidding consortium led by Advent International and Cinven.

ThyssenKrupp had reached an agreement with the consortium on the purchase of the elevator business earlier this year. With the closing, the company has received the contractually agreed purchase price, which was reported to be $17.2 billion. Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery to acquire Siemens’ stake in Primetals Technologies

Deal would make MHMM sole owner of Primetals Technologies

Mitsubishi-Hitachi Metals Machinery (MHMM) and Siemens have reached agreement for MHMM to acquire Siemens’ 49 percent stake in Primetals Technologies.

Closing of the transaction is subject to customary conditions and is expected by early 2020.

Siemens will support the process to ensure a successful closing of the transaction. Following closing, MHMM will assume sole control of Primetals Technologies. Kia car to feature ‘first’ CVVD engine technology

Hyundai Motor Group, Kia Motors‘ parent company, has developed the world’s first Continuously Variable Valve Duration (CVVD) technology to feature in future Kia vehicles.

The innovation was revealed at Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang alongside the Smartstream G1.6 T-GDi, the first engine to feature the technology.

CVVD is claimed to optimise both engine performance and fuel efficiency while also being eco-friendly.
