BlueBotics unveils new asset tracing and transport flow system

March 21, 2025 by David Edwards

Autonomous navigation and fleet management software provider BlueBotics – whose ANT navigation technology drives over 6,000 AGVs and AMRs around the world – has launched ANT locator, a new and “highly flexible” vehicle tracking and mixed fleet management solution that will be commercially available from June 2025.

Dr Nicola Tomatis, CEO of BlueBotics, says: “Based on our proven vehicle positioning technology, ANT locator allows companies to understand exactly where their forklifts are, and therefore where their pallets are too, whether inside or outdoors.

“ANT locator also addresses an evolving challenge for internal logistics teams: how to ensure effective interactions between manual forklifts and driverless AGVs and AMRs, by enabling traffic light systems for mixed vehicle types, smart interactions in pre-defined zones, and the integrated monitoring of all vehicles.” [Read more…] about BlueBotics unveils new asset tracing and transport flow system

Zebra Technologies increases productivity with ‘30 percent fewer robots’

February 9, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Zebra Technologies, a supply chain workflow specialist, has expanded its Zebra Symmetry Fulfillment, a “comprehensive solution” that utilizes the company’s new Zebra Connect Fulfillment autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), wearable technologies, software, and analytics designed to increase productivity and reduce costs in warehouse operations.

This AI-powered solution combines the functions of a warehouse execution system (WES) with robot fleet management and powerful analytics.

Using the new Zebra Symmetry Connect Fulfillment AMR, the solution enables frontline workers to load and unload orders to and from carts without requiring the AMR to remain permanently attached to each cart. This increases utilization and reduces the number of AMRs required in the fulfillment system. [Read more…] about Zebra Technologies increases productivity with ‘30 percent fewer robots’

Top 10 autonomous truck companies: Powering into the future

January 24, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Autonomous trucks are one of the most exciting developments in any automotive category, in our opinion. The main reason we think this is because we can’t see autonomous cars being given permission by governments to operate freely on public roads.

Autonomous trucks, meanwhile, have already racked up many years of happy operating in the mining sector – and that is likely to grow, and maybe encompass moving non-mining materials and goods as well. This might need tweaks such as driving at night on lonely highways, but that’s not a problem if you’re not human, of course.

Whether you compare them to other segments or not, autonomous trucks are at the forefront of technological advancements in transportation. These vehicles are designed to navigate and operate without human intervention, and represent a paradigm shift in logistics, freight, and commercial transportation.

The journey toward autonomous trucking began with prototypes and pilot tests that challenged the boundaries of innovation.

The first autonomous truck to make headlines in this recent era – let’s say the past 10 to 15 years – was a prototype developed by Daimler Trucks, which successfully completed a public road test in Nevada in 2015. This milestone marked the start of widespread interest and investment in autonomous truck technology. [Read more…] about Top 10 autonomous truck companies: Powering into the future
