The Benefits of Robotic Automation in Offshore Operations

May 21, 2024 by David Edwards

With the level of workplace hazards in the offshore industry, it’s only reasonable to optimize areas that pose a huge risk to OGE workers. OSHA estimates that from 2015 to 2022 alone, over 2,101 offshore workers were severely injured due to work-related procedures.

These procedures usually involve working under challenging conditions, such as extreme weather, limited accessibility, and hazardous environments, which can pose a massive threat to OGE employees’ health and physical well-being.

And let’s not leave out the consequences for maritime companies. According to The Chopin Law Firm LLC, a group of renowned offshore injury lawyers, companies face staggering costs from workplace accidents, including medical expenses, legal fees, and compensatory damages that can run into millions of dollars while still suffering high operational inefficiencies. Xponential event expects ‘elevated global presence in autonomous and robotics industry’

March 28, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Xponential – or XPONENTIAL, as the organizers prefer it – the technology event for autonomy, is poised to further solidify its standing as the premier global gathering of industry leaders from April 22-25, 2024 in San Diego.

XPONENTIAL organizers, the Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and Messe Düsseldorf North America (MDNA), are forecasting an increase in attendance from outside the US compared to the 2023 show, which also saw a significant boost in international participation (a 65 percent increase over 2022).

This multi-year trend highlights the growing global appeal of XPONENTIAL as a must-attend event for industry professionals worldwide. Addressing the urgent need for cross-collaboration among leaders in different sectors and countries is essential for establishing the systems and standards for an autonomous future. Hannover Messe forms ‘close co-operation’ with German Robotics Association

February 14, 2024 by David Edwards

The topic of robotics is an integral part of Hannover Messe. Robots of all sizes and shapes – from industrial robots and cobots right through to autonomous mobile robots – can be found throughout the exhibition grounds of the world’s leading trade fair for industry.

A special highlight this year is the Application Park in Hall 5, which has a strong partner at its side in the form of the German Robotics Association (DRV).

Among other things, the DRV has made it a mission to promote and foster the use of robotics in Germany. Given the shortage of skilled workers, there is undoubtedly potential in this direction, with Germany ranking fifth behind China, Japan, Korea and the USA in global comparison. Economy in transition: Challenges and opportunities for European industry in 2024

January 19, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Looking ahead to 2024: a year full of challenges for the European economy, but also lucrative opportunities. How companies can master the wave of change and discover new opportunities for growth and efficiency with clever digitalisation and automation as well as the smart use of used machinery.

In 2023, the European economy was heavily impacted by external challenges such as high energy prices, inflation and the ongoing effects of global tensions. These factors led to general uncertainty and a dampened willingness to invest. The wood and metal market, central to many industries, was particularly affected by the price explosion.

In 2024, companies will continue to be confronted with the effects of global political tensions, which are reflected in economic uncertainties. The availability and cost of supplies and market stability will also suffer. [Read more…] about Economy in transition: Challenges and opportunities for European industry in 2024
