Kawasaki Robotics unveils new collaborative robots

Kawasaki Robotics has unveiled its new range of collaborative robots (cobots) at the Automate event, recently held in Chicago.

Powered with partner Neura Robotics’ robotic assistant platform, the CL Series combines all the safety and intuitiveness that standard cobots are known for with a solid, robust design that unlocks the speed and productivity of industrial robotics to offer limitless user flexibility.

Kawasaki Robotics also showed off new applications using the Kawasaki R Series and BX Series of reliable, precise and Ai-enabled industrial robots, all created in close collaboration with partners such as Mech Mind, CRG Automation, AMT Precision Parts and Olis Robotics. Fizyr partner with Dero to develop ‘advanced robotic picking’

Fizyr, a provider of vision AI for robotic systems, has formed a new strategic partnership with Dero Group, an expert in food processing and robotic automation solutions.

This partnership marks a “significant milestone in the pursuit of highly efficient automation in complex, high-variability tasks within food processing and logistics sectors”, say the companies.

Yaskawa Electric’s new robot with AI and autonomy uses Wind River Linux

Wind River, a provider of software for intelligent systems, says industrial robot-maker Yaskawa is using Wind River Linux for its next-generation Motoman Next series of robots.

Yaskawa is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of servo motor, AC drives, and industrial robots.

Motoman Next is capable of autonomous adaptivity to the environment and can make judgments with advanced AI capabilities. Flexiv Robotics unveils gecko-inspired gripper and automated cleaning station

Flexiv, a developer of general-purpose robotics solutions, has improved its Grav Enhanced gecko-inspired gripper so that it can now be “quickly and effortlessly cleaned via the fully automated Cleaning Station”.

This powerful combination of gripper and cleaner provides the Grav Enhanced not only the ability to lift practically any object weighing up to 5 kg, but also a way of maintaining the gripper’s effectiveness even when manipulating objects covered with surface contaminants like dirt and dust.

Providing a truly general-purpose handling capacity, the Grav Enhanced and the Cleaning Station are set to significantly boost lifting efficiency and expand the utility of Flexiv’s adaptive robots across multiple sectors.

Collaborative Robotics raises $100 million in Series B funding

Collaborative Robotics, (or Cobot), a leader in the development of practical collaborative robots (cobots), today announced it has raised $100 million in Series B funding led by General Catalyst and joined by Bison Ventures, Industry Ventures and Lux Capital.

Existing investors Sequoia Capital, Khosla Ventures, Mayo Clinic, Neo, 1984 Ventures, MVP Ventures and Calibrate Ventures participated as well, bringing the total funding raised to over $140 million in less than two years.

BlackBerry and AMD develop system to stop robots shaking

BlackBerry is partnering with AMD to build technology for “next-generation robotic systems” by enabling new levels of low latency and jitter, and repeatable determinism.

Together, the companies will address the critical need for “hard” real-time capabilities in robotics-focused hardware with an affordable and powerful platform that delivers enhanced performance, reliability, and scalability for robotic systems in industrial and healthcare.

The platform combines BlackBerry QNX expertise in real-time foundational software solutions and the QNX Software Development Platform (SDP) with heterogeneous hardware solutions powered by the AMD Kria K26 SOM that features both Arm and FPGA programmable logic-based architecture. Neura Robotics and Omron partner to develop cognitive robots for manufacturing industry

Bota Systems says its new force torque sensor ‘triples sensitivity of cobots’

Bota Systems, a pioneer in multi-axis force torque sensors, has launched the SensONE T5, a high sensitivity version of its SensONE sensor.

The SensONE T5 provides an exceptional sensitivity level of just 0.05 N / 0.002 Nm, which is three to five times higher than on the current SensONE sensor.
