German robotics and automation sector experiencing ‘booming demand’

The robotics and automation industry in Germany is benefiting from a boom in demand, according to industry association VDMA.

In the first four months of 2022, order intake increased by 38 percent year-on-year. The dynamic market development had already been noticeable with the results for 2021, in which industry turnover rose by 13 percent – more than expected.

Eyewear retailer brings in robot from Osaro to keep up with e-commerce orders

Osaro, a developer of advanced robotics for e-commerce, has partnered with Zenni, an online eyewear retailer, to automate the “last meter” of Zenni’s fulfillment center in Novato, California.

Three Osaro Robotic Bagging Systems will take on the responsibility of readying eyewear orders for shipment to US customers.

The implementation is also an industry first. This is the first time a robot will be assigned the responsibility of working with an automated mechanical bagging system to ensure a customer’s unique order is placed into the correct bag for shipment. ABB’s unveils new robotic machining cell and software

ABB has launched its OmniVance Machining Cell and Machining Software solutions, bringing greater flexibility and simplicity to a range of applications including sanding, polishing, cutting, and surface finishing.

Part of ABB’s new OmniVance portfolio of standardized application cells, the new Machining Cell is the first to market that can perform up to eight different applications in one cell, while its intuitive Machining Software simplifies programming and reduces set-up time by up to 92 percent.

Universal Robots launches all-new 20 kg industrial collaborative robot

Massive growth predicted for robotic last-mile delivery
