Geek Plus Robotics wins award at Deliver e-logistics event

Geek Plus Robotics has won an award at the Deliver e-logistics event, which this year took place in Lisbon, Portugal. 

The warehouse robotics and automation specialist was awarded the “Rising Star” prize in recognition of its spectacular growth since the company was founded four years ago, and especially for its progress in the past couple of years.

Geek Plus says it is particularly pleased with this award because it was voted for by retailers. “We believe that this award would further encourage us to the next level and provide more efficient solutions to the logistics industry,” said a spokesperson for the company. ‘E-logistics’ event Deliver to be held in Amsterdam next year

The fifth annual “e-logistics” – or e-commerce logistics – event Deliver is to be held in Amsterdam next year.

The fourth edition of the Deliver elite series successfully gathered ​1,000 high-level attendees from 40 countries on June 5th and 6th, 2019 in Lisbon, representing a 30 per cent increase compared to the previous edition.

Markforged 3D printers featured in BattleBots World Championship

Markforged, a provider of metal and carbon fiber 3D printers, says that four of its 3D printers were featured on BattleBots, a television series which premiered on June 7th on the Discovery Channel and June 12th on the Science Channel.

As the only 3D printer company hosted by BattleBots during filming, Markforged produced more than 160 parts for 29 teams onsite – all within the two weeks of filming.

Volkswagen plans 36,000 charging points for electric cars throughout Europe

Volkswagen will be installing a total of 36,000 charging points in Europe by 2025; 11,000 of these are to be developed by the Volkswagen brand.

They will be installed at Volkswagen plants and at about 3,000 Volkswagen dealerships in all large towns and cities. With its Group company for charging infrastructure Elli (Electric Life) and its charging service “We Charge”, Volkswagen is also moving into further lucrative business areas connected with charging.

All in all, the Group is investing about €250 million at its European locations. At the same time, the Group calls for other measures to take effect rapidly for more charging stations in Germany.

General Motors unveils its digital vehicle platform

General Motors has unveiled its all-new electronic platform for its next-generation of vehicles.

As the automotive industry and vehicles evolve in the next five to 10 years, more electrical bandwidth and connectivity will be needed to ensure that features such as electric propulsion systems, the Super Cruise driver assistance feature and advanced active safety systems can all run in conjunction with each other.

Debuting on the recently-unveiled 2020 Cadillac CT5 sedan, the electronic platform will go into production later this year and should be rolled out to most vehicles within GM’s global lineup by 2023.
