Building management: Fondation Louis Vuitton or the challenge of a multi-trade hypervision solution

The Fondation Louis Vuitton is a museum for contemporary art created by Bernard Arnault, owner of the LVMH group.

Designed by the American architect Frank Gehry, the building, in the form of a transparent cloud, is located in the heart of the Jardin d’Acclimatation and houses almost 11 galleries spread over three floors plus a 300-seat auditorium.

Parts Town expands to include more than 120 distribution partners

Parts Town, a restaurant and foodservice equipment parts distributor which claims to have “the most in-stock original equipment manufacturer parts on the planet”, says it has added a total of 24 brands to its roster of master distribution programs this year alone along with 35 percent organic growth for 2018.

Parts Town, which recently installed a highly automated storage and retrieval system in its facility (main picture), supplied by warehouse automation company AutoStore, says “innovation and company culture are at the core” of its year-over-year performance.

The company says its year-end milestones include:

  • the creation of the Serial Number Lookup technology;
  • hiring of its 500th employee; and
  • the addition of PartsXpress and 3Wire to the PT Holdings family.

Groupe PSA to starts autonomous driving tests on open roads in China

Groupe PSA has obtained a licence to start autonomous driving tests on open roads in Chongqing, China, the first French carmaker to do so.

Groupe PSA has autonomous car experience in Europe, the challenge is to integrate Groupe PSA’s technology into the Chinese ecosystem as the environment, infrastructure, map system and road users are different.

The company is the first car manufacturer to have tested the autonomous car on open roads in France from July 2015 onwards, as well as the first carmaker to obtain the authorisations to carry out autonomous mode tests with “non-expert” drivers in March 2017.

Continental concludes Kathrein Automotive acquisition

Continental has completed the acquisition of Kathrein Automotive GmbH, the automotive division of Rosenheim-based antenna and satellite technology manufacturer Kathrein, which makes intelligent vehicle antennas.

Potential applications range from remote access keys and navigation applications through to telematics solutions. A connected vehicle can contain over 22 installed antennas.

Continental can now offer a broad portfolio ranging from rod antennas to the Intelligent Antenna Module.
