Vattenfall to optimise large-scale battery park for Return

April 26, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Vattenfall and the international energy storage company Return have entered into an agreement under which Vattenfall will operate and optimize a large-scale battery park with a capacity of 50 megawatts for eight years.

The battery park will be located in Waddinxveen in southern Netherlands and is planned to be operational in the first half of 2026.

Return will provide Vattenfall with a large-scale battery with an output of 50 megawatts and a storage capacity of 100 megawatt hours in an eight-year contract from the planned commissioning in the first half of 2026. [Read more…] about Vattenfall to optimise large-scale battery park for Return

Fugro’s marine robot completes ‘world’s first’ fully remote offshore wind ROV inspection

April 26, 2023 by Mark Allinson

What is being described as “the world’s first” fully remote inspection of offshore wind farm assets has been successfully carried out by Fugro, using one of its Blue Essence uncrewed surface vessels (USVs) with Blue Volta, an electrical remotely operated vehicle (eROV).

The inspection at the Aberdeen offshore wind farm in the North Sea (also known as the European Offshore Wind Deployment Centre) was jointly funded by Vattenfall and Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult.

This partnership gives innovators in the offshore wind supply chain the opportunity to test and prove technologies in real-world conditions to support innovation in operations and maintenance. Vattenfall and Echandia Marine develop electric ferry with ‘superfast charging’

July 11, 2019 by David Edwards

Energy supplier Vattenfall and engineering company Echandia Marine claim they have developed a new solution for electric ferries that can “minimise emissions and noise and at the same time lower operational and maintenance costs and provide superfast charging”.

The systems are installed on E/S Movitz that operates in central Stockholm and can be fully charged within 10 minutes with up to 500 kW charging power.

Vattenfall and Echandia Marine have together developed a new concept that can contribute to a more sustainable transport solution for different types of boats and ferries. [Read more…] about Vattenfall and Echandia Marine develop electric ferry with ‘superfast charging’
