Lila Sciences raises $235 million in Series A funding to advance AI-driven scientific research

Lila Sciences has announced the completion of a $235 million Series A funding round, co-led by Braidwell and Collective Global.

The round also included participation from Altitude Life Science Ventures, Alumni Ventures, ARK Venture Fund, Common Metal, Flagship Pioneering, General Catalyst, March Capital, the Mathers Foundation, Modi Ventures, NGS Super, the State of Michigan Retirement System, and a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA).

The Boston-based company, which emerged from stealth in March, is building what it describes as an end-to-end platform for “scientific superintelligence”. Foundation EGI raises $23 million to build ‘world’s first engineering general intelligence platform’

Foundation EGI, developer of what it describes as “the world’s first Engineering General Intelligence (EGI) platform”, has raised $23 million in oversubscribed Series A funding, raising over $30 million total.

The company is accelerating its vision of turning manufacturing’s biggest bottlenecks into breakthroughs using domain-specific AI.

The latest round was led by Translink Capital with participation from RRE Ventures, McRock Capital, Escape Investment Management (Jim Scapa), Fifth Growth Fund, and returning backers including E14 Fund, UNION, GRIDS Capital, and Henry Ford III. Augmentus raises $11 million to scale physical AI for complex robotic surface finishing and welding

Augmentus, the developer of an intelligent no-code robotics solution, has raised $11 million (SGD $14 million) in a Series A+ funding round.

The funds will be used to accelerate regional deployment of its fully autonomous robotic surface finishing and welding systems, fulfill demand from marquee manufacturing customers, and advance R&D into hyper-adaptive, AI-driven robotic systems built for the factory floor.

Civ Robotics secures $7.5 million to power robot-led surveying

Civ Robotics, a construction robotics company, has closed its $7.5 million Series A funding round, led by AlleyCorp with investments from Bobcat Company, ff Venture Capital, and previous seed investors.

This brings the total funding to date to $12.5 million. This new investment will support further development of its construction robots and expansion into new global markets, with an emphasis on renewable energy and solar.

Materials science startup InventWood raises $15 million for its ‘stronger than steel’ Superwood

InventWood, creator of what the startup describes as a “revolutionary” material – Superwood, has secured $15 million in the first close of its Series A funding round.

This investment marks a significant milestone as the company prepares to begin shipments from its first commercial manufacturing facility in Frederick, Maryland, in the third quarter of 2025.

InventWood has now successfully secured more than $50 million in total capital, which supported the construction of its first production facility and positions the company to scale rapidly.
