Ready Robotics launches online marketplace for manufacturers

December 4, 2020 by Elaine

READY Robotics has launched the READY.Market, a robot-agnostic online marketplace for manufacturers looking to accelerate their implementation of robotic automation

Selecting the components needed to deploy automation can be a major barrier to robotic automation. To make automation more accessible to all manufacturers, READY Robotics has created a marketplace in partnership with leading providers of automation products. By enabling manufacturers to find the components needed to automate, the READY.Market empowers manufacturers to deploy automation on their own. Schunk is one of the leading suppliers of components to industrial robotic arm manufacturers and other industrial machinery makers. The company held an open day recently in which it outlined its vision of human-robot collaboration, or collaborative robotics, which the company says combines human and robot strengths.

Schunk starts by asking, and then seeking to answer, the following questions:

  • How can human-robot collaboration be used in everyday production?
  • What safety concepts are there?
  • How can a successful start be made?

These and other concerns were the focus of the second Schunk user and technology dialog on the topic of “Successfully introducing human-robot collaboration in the company”.  [Read more…] about Human-robot collaboration combines human and robot strengths, says Schunk

Schunk introduces fast depanelling machine

June 11, 2018 by Anna

Schunk Electronic Solutions has developed Magnoplate – a universal workpiece holder for depanelling machines that is claimed to speed up the process.

Depanelling is the process when product-relevant PCBs produced together on a board are broken up to be inserted into the product during assembly.

The workpiece holder of Magnoplate  places magnetic carrier pins with a milling head on a support plate. This results in lightning-fast brackets for new assembly groups.

Chancellor Merkel hand in hand with the robot of tomorrow

May 10, 2018 by Anna

German Chancellor Angela Merkel explored the possibilities of the Schunk SVH 5-finger grippers at the Hannover Messe.

She visited the IBG Automation booth, where the head of the German government, together with Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and his wife Angélica Rivera, got up close and personal with the robotic hands of Schunk.

“The Hannover Messe has succeeded in impressively demonstrating that the digitization of industrial production and the trend toward Industry 4.0 will be pivotal global topics in the years ahead,” emphasized Henrik A. Schunk, Managing Partner, CEO, Schunk GmbH & Co. at the conclusion of the trade show.

Schunk demonstrates how the electronics industry can be made more collaborative

April 19, 2018 by Anna

Schunk is now showcasing on a demo system to show how depanelling machines can be made collaborative for the electronics industry.

The depanelling machine, from its subsidiary Schunk Electronic Solutions, uses a robot arm for the loading and unloading processes, so that a single employee can operate up to five machines simultaneously.

The automated system consists of the SAR 1700 depanelling machine and a UR5 six-axis robot arm from Universal Robots equipped with a Schunk Co-act EGP-C gripper.

Schunk introduces programmable magnetic switches for gripping systems

March 14, 2018 by Anna

Schunk is now offering a freely programmable and universally applicable magnetic switch with ATEX certification for device group II, category 2 for monitoring gripping systems in potentially explosive areas.

The MMS 22-PI1-EX has a freely programmable switching point and detects a magnet inside of the actuator. It can be placed directly in the C-slot of the gripping or rotary modules with no interfering contours.

Instead of time-consuming mechanical adjustment of the switching point, the magnetic sensor can be programmed in just a few steps. The required magnetic teaching tool is included in the scope of delivery.

An optional plug-in teaching tool is also available. The corresponding switching condition is indicated on an LED display. Thanks to the standard plug connector, the sensor can be easily connected with standardized connection cables.
