ABB launches new paint atomizer for efficient and sustainable paint shops

ABB has launched the RB 1000i-S paint atomizer to revolutionize automotive paint shops. The new paint atomizer mounted on top of the ABB robot improves transfer efficiency by upwards of 10 percent, and can significantly reduce paint waste by a minimum of 30 percent along with carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, compared to its predecessor, the RB 1000i.

In addition, major efficiency and cost saving benefits have the potential to deliver significant financial savings.

Boston Dynamics and Toyota partner to advance humanoid robotics research

Boston Dynamics and Toyota Research Institute (TRI) say they are partnering to accelerate the development of artificial intelligence and robotics.

The research partnership aims to accelerate the development of general-purpose humanoid robots utilizing TRI’s Large Behavior Models and Boston Dynamics’ Atlas robot.

Abu Dhabi hosts ‘record numbers’ of delegates and visitors for IROS robotics conference

The 36th edition of the IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems (IROS 2024) successfully concluded in Abu Dhabi today, October 18th, 2024, with a “record number of nearly 10,000, visitors, delegates and participants in attendance”.

The success of what is arguably the world’s most prestigious robotics exhibition has “emphatically raised the profile of Abu Dhabi as a global destination for robotics and artificial intelligence, as well as for advanced technology innovation”, say the organizers. 

Researchers, academics, scientists and regulatory stakeholders inspired guests and visitors with their impactful plenary talks, keynote sessions, and individual poster and oral presentations at IROS 2024 that opened on 14 October at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Center (ADNEC).

Humanoid robots are a ‘publicity stunt and serve no purpose in automated warehouses’, says Exotec

In a blistering critique, established warehouse automation company Exotec says “useless” humanoid robot prototypes are a “publicity stunt and serve no purpose in automated warehouses”, adding that they “discredit the warehouse industry”.

Robotics systems have evolved significantly in the past decade, evolving from prototypes to fully established technologies across a range of industries.

Kawasaki Robotics unveils new collaborative robot designed in partnership with Neura Robotics

Kawasaki Robotics will demonstrate new additions to its extensive robotics portfolio, including the new CL Series of intelligent collaborative robots (cobots).

Kuka launches new range of SCARA robots with 60 kg payload

Kuka has launched a new range of SCARA (Selective Compliance Assembly Robot Arm) robots with payloads of up to 60kg. The company adds that the new robots have “special features” such as their high speed and repeat accuracy.

With the KR SCARA in the now available 20-kg payload class and soon to be released 60-kg payload class, Kuka is further expanding its portfolio of four-axis robots.

Universal Robots increases payload capacity for its cobots

Universal Robots, the collaborative robot company, is increasing the payload capacity on its new-generation, high-payload cobots UR20 and UR30, enabling customers to lift more at no additional cost.

The updates raise the total payload, including end-effector, to 25 and 35 kgs respectively when utilizing the cobot in top lift position. This is especially useful for palletizing applications and solutions.
