How to Apply Color LCD Displays in Industrial Settings

April 23, 2024 by Mark Allinson

Technology keeps developing very rapidly. Especially in the last couple of years. We’ve seen a big change in how technology is developed.

New models and series pop up almost every second week. That’s why people keep upgrading their gadgets, always in search of the next one. But the problem with some technology today is that it wasn’t made to last.

In fact, it was made to have a deadline. Most gadgets usually last around two years and then it’s time to get a new one.

Rope Robotics says its robotic wind turbine blade repairs pay off in six months

February 9, 2023 by David Edwards

After over 18 months in operation, having repaired over 150 rain-damaged onshore wind turbine blades on three continents, the patented robot from Denmark’s Rope Robotics, the world leader in robotic blade maintenance, has demonstrated return on investment for turbine owners within just six months.

Compared to manual alternatives, the robot can repair the blade around four times faster at half the cost.

An increasing problem, rain erosion damage compromises aerodynamic performance of the blade and at worst can lead to blade failure and expensive turbine downtime. [Read more…] about Rope Robotics says its robotic wind turbine blade repairs pay off in six months

Three strikes and you’re out! Humans give up on robots after multiple mistakes

February 3, 2023 by David Edwards

Humans are less forgiving of robots after multiple mistakes – and the trust is difficult to get back, according to a new University of Michigan study.

Similar to human co-workers, robots can make mistakes that violate a human’s trust in them. When mistakes happen, humans often see robots as less trustworthy, which ultimately decreases their trust in them.

The study examines four strategies that might repair and mitigate the negative impacts of these trust violations. These trust strategies were apologies, denials, explanations and promises on trustworthiness. [Read more…] about Three strikes and you’re out! Humans give up on robots after multiple mistakes

Aerones demonstrates ‘first’ robot for wind turbine maintenance and repair

January 30, 2023 by Mark Allinson

Aerones has demonstrated for what it claims is the “first robot that offers full-service leading edge wind turbine blade maintenance and repair”.

The robot performs maintenance 5x faster than humans, and makes use of various attachments to perform different tasks, including refinishing blades with RELEST coatings from AkzoNobel.

The robot is able to perform maintenance and repair for Level 1-3 Leading Edge Erosion (LEE), proactively addressing erosion in a cost-effective manner and halting progression to Level 4-5 erosion. [Read more…] about Aerones demonstrates ‘first’ robot for wind turbine maintenance and repair
