ABB launches new SCARA robot for pick-and-place and assembly operations

January 7, 2024 by Mark Allinson

ABB Robotics is expanding its industrial SCARA robot portfolio with the addition of the IRB 930. The new robot, compromising three variants capable of handling 12 kg and 22 kg payloads, has been designed to meet the demands of new growth opportunities in traditional and new markets.

Marc Segura, president of ABB Robotics, says: “Our latest SCARA addition broadens our portfolio, offering our customers even more automation choices.

“Whether 3C, automotive electronics, electric vehicle battery cells or solar panels, our new IRB 930’s higher payload and longer reach brings the performance advantages of our wider SCARA range to new and traditional segments alike. Osaro and SVT Robotics build ‘advanced packaging robot’ for fulfillment warehouses

November 19, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Osaro, a developer of AI-driven robotics for e-commerce, is partnering with SVT Robotics to accelerate the integration of pick-and-place robotics systems for e-commerce and logistics businesses.

SVT Robotics’ “ground-breaking” Softbot Platform enables companies to integrate and deploy the robots, automation, and IoT devices they need in just days or weeks.

As part of the agreement, SVT Robotics has joined Osaro’s partner program, which offers one-stop access for businesses looking to deploy robotic solutions in their fulfillment operations. [Read more…] about Osaro and SVT Robotics build ‘advanced packaging robot’ for fulfillment warehouses

Robot-ready conveying optimizes pick-and-place

December 30, 2021 by David Edwards

By Ken Tinnell, vice president, general manager, Shuttleworth, a division of ProMach

From a machine builder’s point of view, robots can solve many processing and packaging line problems, but the chosen material handling systems supplying the line can reduce the robot’s performance. Smart Robot-Ready conveying solutions, such as Slip-Torque roller technology, DASH Dynamic Accumulation, SmartFeed, and flexible product control devices, engineered by Shuttleworth, enable precision robotic pick-and-place, maximizing system uptime and virtually eliminating product damage.

Flexibility, speed and accuracy make robotic technology ideal for pick-and-place applications in a wide range of industries. Tremendous gains in productivity are realized through the application of pick-and-place robotic technology. These robots also eliminate the risk of fatigue and injury that human labor is subjected to in these types of applications.

Robotic pick-and-place systems are low maintenance, flexible and reconfigurable, and especially beneficial in manufacturing and packaging applications when dealing with sterile, hazardous and potentially injury-causing materials. [Read more…] about Robot-ready conveying optimizes pick-and-place

Startup company launches new class of robot – the Wyzo ‘sidebot’

June 10, 2021 by Sam Francis

Wyzo, a startup company with backing from established companies such as Demaurex, the inventor of the delta robot, has launched a new class of robot – the Wyzo “sidebot”.

Wyzo – which is described as “the world’s first high-speed pick-and-place sidebot” – is now available for companies making their first steps into automation, as well as for large manufacturers looking for “unrivalled versatility”.

Compact and agile, Wyzo works safely side-by-side with humans without protective barriers or performance compromises. Critically, the robot uses the “revolutionary” new direct drive invented by Genesis Robotics. [Read more…] about Startup company launches new class of robot – the Wyzo ‘sidebot’

NSK miniature linear guides bring ‘higher dynamics’ to pick-and-place machines

July 17, 2017 by David Edwards

nsk

NSK says its linear guides bring “higher dynamics” to pick-and-place machines.

As machines for the semiconductor industry operate with cycle times of one second or less, pick-and-place units must offer very high dynamic performance.

A case in point can be seen at a manufacturer of chip-mounting systems, where NSK recommended a combination of its ball screw and miniature linear guide technologies to replace the existing linear motor and significantly increase dynamic capability.  [Read more…] about NSK miniature linear guides bring ‘higher dynamics’ to pick-and-place machines
