Maxim launches ‘industry’s smallest’ LiDAR integrated circuits

February 26, 2020 by Sam Francis

Chipmaker Maxim Integrated has unveiled what it says is “the industry’s smallest light detection and ranging integrated circuits”.

The company says the ICs provide twice the bandwidth than competing ICs and are intended for faster self-driving cars.

Maxim says designers of automotive self-driving systems can now enable higher-speed autonomous driving through the industry’s fastest and smallest LiDAR ICs. [Read more…] about Maxim launches ‘industry’s smallest’ LiDAR integrated circuits

Maxim introduces smart car battery safety device

January 12, 2018 by Anna

Maxim Integrated Products has introduced a new 12-channel, high-voltage smart sensor data-acquisition device to improve safety for car lithium-ion battery packs, called the MAX17843.

Electric vehicles (EVs), hybrid EVs, and plug-in hybrids rely on large lithium-ion battery packs filled with hundreds or even thousands of individual battery cells.

With industry experts predicting that 25% of cars sold by 2025 will have electric engines, automotive OEMs and Tier 1s need an intelligent battery management system to enable safe, low cost solutions with robust communications.

Maxim collaborates with Nvidia on autonomous driving

January 10, 2018 by Anna

The Nvidia Drive PX, the autonomous driving platform, which uses Ubuntu as it OS

Maxim Integrated has collaborated with Nvidia to support the industry’s first Level 5 full-autonomy system, the Nvidia Drive Pegasus platform, as well as Nvidia Drive Xavier for Level 4 driving.

Maxim’s Automotive Safety Integrity Level (ASIL) solutions and high-performance analog integration, which include next-generation gigabit multimedia serial link (GMSL) serializer and deserializer (SerDes) technology, as well as a power system monitoring solution, provide the flexible foundation necessary to meet functional safety requirements for Nvidia’s autonomous driving platform, says the company.

To address consumer concerns about driver safety in autonomous vehicles, automakers have increased their focus on safety requirements for ADAS applications. Safety-critical systems, which require redundancy and fault diagnostics, have stringent ASIL requirements.

Industrial internet: Maxim uses Arduino and ARM components to build system to identify false sensor data

September 7, 2016 by Abdul Montaqim

maxim integrated MAXREFDES143-1

Maxim Integrated has developed a system which makes it easier to authenticate sensor and avoid false readings

Maxim Integrated says it has developed a system which provides protection against counterfeit sensor data, guaranteeing its authenticity and integrity along the entire data chain, from transducer to the cloud.

The company says its system addresses the many issues related to system security in Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) installations.

The Arduino-compatible MaxRefDes143# Reference Design consists of a protected sensor node with a DS28E15 secure authenticator, DS7505 temperature sensor, and MAX44009 light sensor, all connected to the ARM mbed technology shield with its DS2465 secure coprocessor (SHA-256), 1-Wire and I2C interfaces, Wi-Fi module, and LED/LCD/pushbutton user interfaces.  [Read more…] about Industrial internet: Maxim uses Arduino and ARM components to build system to identify false sensor data
