How SMEs can benefit from used industrial robots

January 7, 2024 by Mark Allinson

SMEs are increasingly recognising the benefits of industrial robots, where user-friendliness and cost are key factors in their selection.

As major automobile manufacturers have long embraced extensive robotics, these robots regularly enter the second-hand machinery market. Purchasing used robots is a cost-efficient solution not only for SMEs.

The use of robotics, according to the International Federation of Robotics (IFR), is shifting: while previously large companies, especially in the automotive industry, were the main users, interest is now rising among small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Tackling the lack of specialists with innovative robotics solutions

April 16, 2023 by David Edwards

Boring, strenuous, and exhausting are things of the past. The work environment of tomorrow looks different: exciting, simple, and easy. Cobots, AGVs (Autonomous Guided Vehicles), and AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots) put variety into daily work routines.

Cooperation with the robot transforms previously tedious, strenuous tasks into popular activities that are easy to perform. Numerous exhibitors at automatica, held in Munich from June 27 to 30, 2023, will present examples of such transformations.

While such work facilitation is great, the pivotal question is: To what extent can automation and robotics compensate the lack of specialists? An ever-increasing gap emerges as the baby boomers retire from the workforce. [Read more…] about Tackling the lack of specialists with innovative robotics solutions

Micropsi Industries’ AI software now compatible with Fanuc robots

December 3, 2022 by Mark Allinson

Micropsi Industries says its artificial intelligence-based software MirAI is now compatible with numerous robots produced by Fanuc, the world’s largest supplier of robotics and factory automation.

With MirAI, Fanuc customers can now add valuable hand-eye coordination to multiple Fanuc industrial and collaborative robots (cobots) to handle difficult-to-automate functions such as cable plugging and assembly.

Using AI, the MirAI controller generates robot movements directly and in real-time. Robot skills are trained, not programmed, in a few days through human demonstration, without requiring knowledge of programming or AI. Cobots and no code: Robotics for everyone

March 30, 2022 by David Edwards

Almost three months before the start of automatica, which takes place from June 21 to 24 at the Munich Exhibition Center, one thing is certain: never before has there been such a wide range of collaborative robots as this year. And they are easier to use than ever.

The latter also applies to industrial robots. Here, no-code robotics allows an almost playful handling of robots.

These and many other developments pursue one goal: the democratization of robotics. In the future, anyone should be able to operate robots without special knowledge. With cobots, this is already possible thanks to simple programming options. [Read more…] about Cobots and no code: Robotics for everyone
