Denso takes a stake in semiconductor processor startup quadric.io

Denso Corporation, the world’s second largest mobility supplier via its subsidiary NSITEXE, Inc., has taken a stake in quadric.io, a startup company based in Burlingame, California.

NSITEXE designs and develops semiconductor IP cores  and the investment will help quadric.io’s development of edge processing units (EPUs), which are high-performance semiconductors that could be used as a foundation for enabling automated driving technology.

Denso established NSITEXE in 2017 to design and develop next-generation, high-performance semiconductor devices to advance automated driving solutions.

Denso merges three subsidiaries to form Denso Solution

Denso Corporation, the world’s second largest mobility supplier, has announced that Denso Sales Japan Corporation, Denso Ten Sales Limited and Denso Ten Service Limited will merge to form a new company called Denso Solution Japan Corporation on April 1, 2019.

With the rapid progress of vehicle electrification and automated driving within the auto industry, Denso has previously announced several organisational changes to increase competitiveness.

The formation of Denso Solution will create new products and services in the automotive aftermarket.

Aisin and Denso to form electric vehicle driving module joint venture

Aisin Seiki Co., Ltd. and Denso Corporation have formally agreed to form a new company to develop and sell driving modules used for electric vehicles.

The new company is named BluE Nexus and will be established in April* 2019. In August 2018, Aisin and Denso first announced their basic agreement to establish a joint venture.

Electrification requires a driving module package that consists of transaxles, motor-generators, and inverters, which are key components needed for both partially and fully electric vehicles.

Denso to form Japanese joint venture for automated driving control software

Aisin Seiki, Advics, JTEKT Corporation and Denso Corporation have formally agreed to form a new company to develop integrated control software that will be used for automated driving, vehicle motion control, and other related functions.

The new company, J-QuAD DYNAMICS,  will be established in April 2019. In August 2018, the four companies announced their basic agreement to establish a joint venture. Denso will take an almost two-thirds stake in the new company.

To achieve safe, secure, and widespread automated driving, a more sophisticated integrated vehicle control system is required to coordinate sensors, brakes, and steering systems.

Denso and Dellfer to partner on cybersecurity for connected cars

Denso, one of the world’s largest mobility suppliers, and Dellfer, a cybersecurity company, have entered into a joint development agreement to bring ZeroDayGuard 1.0, a cybersecurity product to market for the automotive industry.

The partnership aims to introduce a new way for automotive manufacturers to protect their customers and drivers from increased vulnerabilities associated with connected and autonomous vehicles.

Denso invests nearly $100 million over four years in startups to advance mobility

Denso has invested nearly $100 million over a four-year period in startup companies around the world as part of its long-term vision to provide software-based solutions focused on electrification, automated driving, connectivity and shared economy.

From cyber security to semiconductors and sensors, Denso is investing in startup companies working on key technologies that will play a major role in advancing mobility services that are safe, secure and efficient.

“Denso has traditionally been self-sufficient with its R&D efforts,” said said Tony Cannestra, Director of Corporate Ventures at Denso.

Denso takes a stake in Infineon Technologies to advance automated driving

Automotive supplier Denso Corporation has taken an unspecified stake in Infineon Technologies AG, one of the top manufacturers of in-vehicle semiconductor products, to accelerate the development of technology to achieve next-generation vehicle systems such as automated driving.

With the investment, Infineon Technologies’ advanced semiconductor technologies will be combined with Denso’s in-vehicle technologies and expertise to accelerate the development of new and emerging mobility solutions.

Due to increased functionality of vehicles and advanced electronic control, the demand for semiconductor products is growing exponentially.

Denso to open new Tokyo facility for automated driving technology

Denso Corporation is to establish a new facility at Haneda Airport in Tokyo to develop and test automated driving technologies.

The facility, which is expected to be complete by June 2020, will feature a building and proving ground for mobility systems R&D.

This announcement follows Denso’s establishment of its Global R&D Tokyo facility in April 2018, an automated driving R&D office near Shinagawa Station in Minato City, Tokyo, to promote collaboration and open innovation with its development partners, which include automakers, universities, research institutes and startups.
