automatica trade show ‘on course for growth’ despite weak economy

Preparations for the next automatica – one of the largest trade fairs for smart automation and robotics – are in full swing. From June 24 to 27, 2025, automatica will bring industry and research together in six exhibition halls and offer an unparalleled overview of the latest topics and innovations.

Deep Robotics’ robot dog pioneers smart inspection in Singapore power cable tunnel

Deep Robotics, a Chinese developer of quadrupedal robotics, has crossed a major milestone with the deployment of its industrial-grade quadruped robot, the X30.

The robot, nicknamed “SPock” within Singapore’s SP Group, is now operational in the country’s extensive underground power transmission cable network, marking it the first Chinese quadruped robot to be deployed to an overseas power system.

The partnership with SP Group represents a critical step forward in Deep Robotics’ global expansion and demonstrates the growing importance of emerging technologies such as robotics and digitization in infrastructure maintenance. Global Industrie: Kicking off the final countdown to France’s largest industrial event

TDK Ventures ‘thrilled’ with its investment into ANYbotics

TDK Corporation, the old Japanese multinational electronics giant, says its subsidiary TDK Ventures has invested in ANYbotics, a Switzerland-based global leader in industrial inspection robotics.

Samsung Electronics becomes largest shareholder in Rainbow Robotics

Samsung Electronics has decided to become the largest shareholder in Rainbow Robotics to “accelerate future robot development such as humanoid robots”.

Rainbow Robotics is a startup that is developing and building a variety of robots – including collaborative robotic arms, quadruped or dog-like robots, and dual-armed humanoids – for the industrial sector.

Samsung first acquired a 14.7 per cent stake in the South Korean firm in 2023 with investment of KRW 86.8 billion (approximately $59 million), and is now exercising a call option to increase its stake to 35 per cent. Rainbow Robotics will also be incorporated as a subsidiary under Samsung Electronics’ consolidated financial statements.

ANYbotics raises additional $60 million to drive US expansion

ANYbotics, a provider of four-legged robotic inspection solutions, has raised an additional $60 million, bringing its total funding to over $130 million.

The new funding is led by Qualcomm Ventures and Supernova Invest, with participation from TDK Ventures and other new investors.

Backed by existing investors from Silicon Valley and Europe, including Walden Catalyst, NGP Capital, Bessemer Venture Partners, Swisscanto, and Swisscom Ventures, the funding will accelerate ANYbotics’ global scaling and recent expansion in the US to meet the growing demand for its industrial inspection robots and enhance the company’s ability to deliver exceptional services and seamless integrations worldwide.
