Dürr and GROB showcase new concept factory for battery cell production

June 13, 2025 by Sam Francis

Dürr to adopt new brand name as it aims for ‘more innovation in 50 percent less production space’

Less space and energy requirements, but more performance and the highest battery cell quality – that is the approach taken by engineering companies Dürr and GROB for their new concept factory for the production of lithium-ion battery cells.

At this year’s Battery Show Europe trade fair in Stuttgart, the two partners will be the largest exhibitors, showcasing the technical innovations that make this possible.

Key technologies include dry coating of the electrodes, which does not require a drying process, and powerful Z-folder technology for cell assembly with integrated notching. [Read more…] about Dürr and GROB showcase new concept factory for battery cell production

Drone delivery: Navigating the path from high-flying hype to last-mile reality

June 12, 2025 by Sam Francis

An in-depth analysis of the current technological landscape, regulatory roadblocks, and the commercial scalability of autonomous aerial delivery

The promise of near-instantaneous delivery via autonomous drones has captivated investors and engineers for over a decade.

Initial forecasts, often fuelled by blockbuster tech announcements, painted a futuristic picture of skies buzzing with packages, a vision that has been stubbornly slow to materialize. This has led many to question the ultimate viability of the concept.

Is drone delivery, then, finally poised to overcome its significant hurdles and become a mainstream logistics solution, or is it destined to remain a niche, novelty service? [Read more…] about Drone delivery: Navigating the path from high-flying hype to last-mile reality

The autonomous future of the warehouse: How AMRs are redefining logistics

June 12, 2025 by Sam Francis

The relentless pace of e-commerce, compounded by persistent labour shortages and consumer demand for near-instant delivery, has pushed the global supply chain to a critical tipping point.

In this high-pressure environment, the warehouse has become the central battleground for efficiency.

For years, automation in the form of conveyors and basic Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) offered a partial solution. Now, a new, more intelligent technology is taking the lead: Autonomous Mobile Robots (AMRs). [Read more…] about The autonomous future of the warehouse: How AMRs are redefining logistics

Terradepth and EIVA partner to automate subsea data collection and cloud delivery

June 12, 2025 by Sam Francis

EIVA and Terradepth have partnered to streamline subsea data workflows by integrating Terradepth’s Absolute Ocean platform with EIVA’s NaviSuite software.

This collaboration automates the entire subsea-to-client data workflow, providing expert insight to non-expert users, enabling faster decisions, immediate access, and dramatically reduced turnaround times.

The integration of these two leading software platforms allows collected subsea data to flow directly into Absolute Ocean after being automatically processed via NaviSuite. [Read more…] about Terradepth and EIVA partner to automate subsea data collection and cloud delivery

Battery storage: The missing link in the power grid

June 12, 2025 by Sam Francis

It’s a common misconception that the electricity grid operates like a vast reservoir of power, storing energy and delivering it on demand. The reality is a far more precarious balancing act.

The grid is a real-time network where electricity generation must constantly match consumption. This system has served us for a century, but its lack of storage capacity is a critical vulnerability, especially as we transition to intermittent renewable energy sources.

This is where a new generation of technology comes in: Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS). These are not merely scaled-up versions of consumer batteries; they are sophisticated, utility-scale power assets designed to address the grid’s core challenges.
