Hanwha claims to be Japan’s leading solar modules supplier

Hanwha Q Cells Japan claims it is now “the leading solar module supplier in Japan”, with 770 MW of module shipments in 2017.

Hanwha, which is headquarted in South Korea, says this growth builds upon a strong showing for Hanwha Q Cells Japan in 2016, when the company was the second largest module supplier with 700 MW of shipments.

Hanwha Q Cells Japan first entered the Japanese solar market in 2011. Parker to supply actuation systems for Aviation Industry Corporation of China

Parker Aerospace, a business segment of Parker Hannifin, the motion and control technologies provider, has been selected by AVIC Aircraft, a subsidiary of Aviation Industry Corporation of China, to supply the fly-by-wire flight control actuation system for its MA700 turboprop regional aircraft.

The flight control actuation system for the MA700 will be jointly designed, developed, assembled, and tested by Parker Aerospace and the FACRI Actuation Systems teams, with Parker taking a lead role.

AVIC Flight Automatic Control Research Institute (FACRI), in Xi’an, is the leading company providing flight control in China. Apple launches new $300 million clean energy fund in China

Apple claims its company runs on 100 percent clean energy, and now, the tech giant has agreed a partnership with 10 suppliers to jointly invest in climate change solutions in China.

Apple says this is a “new, first-of-its-kind investment fund in China” to connect suppliers with renewable energy sources.

The company says that, as part of its “commitment to address climate change and increase the use of renewable energy” within its supply chain, 10 initial suppliers and Apple will jointly invest nearly $300 million over the next four years into the China Clean Energy Fund.  [Read more…] about Apple launches new $300 million clean energy fund in China

Hanwha presents ‘Solar Forest’ project to United Nations

South Korean industrial giant Hanwha has made a presentation at the United Nations in which it explained more about its so-called “Solar Forest” project. 

Hanwha claims to be “the world’s leading solar energy solutions provider”, and established its Solar Forest project in 2011.

Swisslog wins multimillion-dollar order from Spritzer in Malaysia

Swisslog, a warehouse automation provider and part of the Kuka Group, has won “a major order” from Spritzer, known as the manufacturer of Malaysia’s best-selling natural mineral water.

The company says the order value is in the “double-digit million euro range” and was booked in the second quarter of 2018.

Honda begins HondaJet Elite deliveries

Honda claims its HondaJet is the “most-delivered aircraft in its class” in the first half of 2018

Honda Aircraft Company says it has begun deliveries of its new advanced aircraft, the HondaJet Elite, at its headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina, USA. 

Deliveries of the HondaJet Elite begin as the HondaJet marks the first half of 2018 as the most delivered aircraft in its class, based on information provided by the General Aviation Manufacturers Association.

Atoun introduces powered exoskeleton into food recycling business

Atoun, which seems to be a business unit of Panasonic, has introduced its powered exoskeleton into a food recycling business, saying that it is targeting the supply of 20 units this year. 

Atoun produces an exoskeleton called “Powered Wear Atoun Model Y”, which it describes as a “wearable robot” for the waist designed to reduce work-induced burdens from the backs of workers and improve work efficiency.

Hitachi’s advanced driver assistance system used in Mitsubishi’s eK Series

Hitachi Automotive Systems says its advanced driver assistance system’s electronic control unit was selected for use in Mitsubishi Motors’ eK Series vehicles.

The eK series refers to three models: the eK Wagon, eK Custom and eK Space.

Kuka wins multimillion-dollar automotive contract with GAC in China

Kuka has received an order to supply industrial robots to Chinese automotive manufacturer GAC NE, subsidiary of GAC Group.

The order value lies in the “high double-digit million euro range”, says Kuka, and was booked in the second quarter of 2018.

Universal Robots introduces training course in Singapore

Universal Robots launched its systems in Singapore last year and is now looking to boost robotics literacy through a collaborative robotics course 

Current and potential employees in Singapore will soon be able to add robotics literacy, an increasingly important skill, to their CVs as automation gains wide adoption in the country.

Universal Robots, the pioneer and market leader of collaborative robots, has partnered with Singapore’s National Trades Union Congress’ e2i (Employment and Employability Institute), to establish the UR Collaborative Robotics Course.
