Switzerland’s largest trade fair celebrates its 20th anniversary with a promising edition

May 22, 2022 by David Edwards

In September 2021, EPHJ was the first show to reopen in Switzerland after the health crisis. Only 8 months after the last edition, the 20th edition of the EPHJ is once again promising. The number of exhibiting companies has risen by 26 percent compared to September 2021 to reach 700 exhibitors to date.

The easing of international travel is confirmed with 15 countries represented among the exhibitors, including the United States, and a trend towards the first returns of foreign visitors is expected. How does Intralogistics support warehouse processes?

May 21, 2022 by David Edwards

The past few years have taught us many things and reliance on technology in today’s world is just one of those vital learnings.

Technology kept many businesses going and processes moving when the world stopped due to Covid-19. And, without a reliable intralogistics strategy, warehouse operation could be far more complex.

Intralogistics is the process of connecting and interacting with all systems relating to the flow of materials, information, automation, logistics and production within a warehouse. [Read more…] about How does Intralogistics support warehouse processes?

Halodi selects Immervision to give ‘human-like’ vision to its humanoid robots

May 21, 2022 by David Edwards

Immervision, a leading developer of advanced vision systems combining optics, image processing, and sensor fusion technology, has been chosen by Halodi Robotics to provide their next generation vision system for their humanoid service robot platform, capable of handling both human and computer vision.

Robots are capable of performing a wide variety of tasks that are difficult or dangerous for humans to perform. To intelligently and accurately perform these tasks, they require mobility and the aptitude to explore, understand and function within various environments.

For a robot to work autonomously, or problem-solve with human assistance, it requires sensor data to understand the human world and the ability to process the data and respond in a timely manner. [Read more…] about Halodi selects Immervision to give ‘human-like’ vision to its humanoid robots

1955 Mercedes-Benz ‘Mona Lisa’ sells for $142 million

May 21, 2022 by David Edwards

A road-racing car built by Mercedes-Benz in 1955, and kept by them ever since, has been secured by British expert Simon Kidston for a client. Kidston had lobbied the board of the German company for 18 months to consider selling the car “that would never be sold”.

In an invitation-only event held at short notice in conditions of great secrecy at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart on 5 May 2022, Kidston’s bid of €135 million secured the car for an unnamed collector. All monies will be used by Mercedes-Benz to set up a charitable fund for young people.

It had always been assumed that Mercedes would never part with one of the crown jewels of its company collection, considered the “Mona Lisa” of cars because of its rarity, racing pedigree, beauty and unavailability. [Read more…] about 1955 Mercedes-Benz ‘Mona Lisa’ sells for $142 million
