Foxconn, Nvidia and Kawasaki partner to develop AI-powered nursing robot

May 20, 2025 by Sam Francis

Electronics manufacturing giant Foxconn, in collaboration with Nvidia, has unveiled its “groundbreaking AI-powered robot”, NuraBot, at the ongoing Computex event.

Jointly developed by Foxconn, Taichung Veterans General Hospital, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries, this innovative machine is designed to revolutionize the healthcare sector, particularly in nursing care, by providing intelligent assistance to both patients and medical professionals.

Leveraging Nvidia’s advanced AI and robotics platforms, NuraBot is equipped with sophisticated perception, natural language processing, and autonomous navigation capabilities.

According to a press release from Nvidia, the robot can perform a range of tasks crucial for patient well-being, including monitoring vital signs, assisting with mobility, delivering medication and meals, and providing companionship.

NuraBot’s features include high-resolution cameras and sensors for accurate environmental awareness, allowing it to navigate hospital environments safely and efficiently.

Its natural language processing capabilities enable seamless communication with patients and staff, understanding and responding to spoken commands and questions.

Furthermore, the robot can learn and adapt to specific patient needs and routines over time, offering personalized support.

The integration of Nvidia’s technology allows NuraBot to process vast amounts of data in real-time, enabling quick and informed decision-making. This is particularly beneficial in tasks such as anomaly detection in vital signs or predicting potential patient needs.

Initial trials of NuraBot in select healthcare facilities have reportedly shown promising results, with positive feedback from both patients and nurses.

The robot’s ability to handle routine tasks has freed up nurses’ time, allowing them to dedicate more attention to direct patient interaction and complex medical procedures.

Patients have also responded favorably to NuraBot’s consistent and readily available assistance.

While Foxconn has not released its own official press statement, the information shared by Nvidia underscores the company’s commitment to expanding its technological footprint into the healthcare industry.

This development signifies a significant step towards integrating advanced robotics and artificial intelligence into everyday healthcare practices, potentially leading to more efficient, personalized, and accessible patient care in the future.

Industry analysts predict that NuraBot could pave the way for a new generation of healthcare robots, transforming how hospitals and care facilities operate.

As the global population ages and healthcare demands increase, such intelligent robotic assistants could play a vital role in ensuring high-quality care for all.

Further details regarding NuraBot’s widespread availability and pricing are expected to be announced in the coming months.

The collaboration between Foxconn and Nvidia marks an exciting intersection of technology and healthcare, promising a future where AI-powered robotics plays an increasingly integral role in patient care.
