Uber and Nuro agree 10-year partnership for autonomous food deliveries starting in California and Texas

Uber Technologies and Nuro, an autonomous vehicle technology company, have agreed a multi-year partnership to use Nuro’s autonomous, electric vehicles for food deliveries in the United States.

Uber Eats consumers will be able to order meals and goods delivered by Nuro’s zero-occupant autonomous delivery vehicles, which run on public roads and are built specifically to carry food and other goods.

Medical Microinstruments introduces even smaller robotic instruments for complex ‘supermicrosurgery’

Medical Microinstruments, a robotics company developing devices for microsurgery, has launched its new Supermicro NanoWrist instruments for use with the Symani Surgical System, developed specifically to address the challenges of microsurgery.

The new supermicro needle holder and dilator were recently used in clinical procedures in Zürich, Florence, and Salzburg, with successful patient outcomes.

Simon Enzinger, MD, DDS, surgeon at the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospital Salzburg, used the new instruments on a procedure called a partial glossectomy, where he raised a lateral arm free flap to replace a large section of a patient’s tongue which required removal due to cancer. Realtime Robotics integrates robot motion planning and control software with Siemens Process Simulate

Realtime Robotics, the leader in collision-free autonomous motion planning for industrial robots, today announced that it has teamed with Siemens to integrate its RapidPlan software with Siemens Process Simulate, in the company’s Tecnomatix portfolio.

This integration enables Siemens customers to utilize Realtime’s innovative robot motion planning and control software as a part of their regular workflow, without leaving Process Simulate.

Customers using the integration can easily visualize, prioritize and simulate robot task plans, and validate them through virtual commissioning. Support for servo weld guns has also been added. Addverb Technologies expands US presence with R&D center in Silicon Valley

Addverb Technologies, an automation solutions provider for warehouses and distribution centers, has opened a new Center of Excellence for Advanced Robotics Research and Development in Fremont, California.

The center, located in the heart of Silicon Valley, will focus on developing state-of-the-art platforms for autonomous mobile robotics and automated guided vehicles, as well as advanced algorithms for human-machine collaboration and biomedical robotics.

Dexterity and Sumitomo partner to bring ‘next generation robotics’ to Japanese warehouses

Dexterity, a provider of robotic solutions for a variety of industries, has agreed a strategic partnership with the Sumitomo Corporation to install 1,500 Dexterity-powered robots in warehouses across Japan.

Sumitomo Corporation, a Japan-based Fortune 500 multinational, signed an exclusive distributorship agreement in Japan with Dexterity to push into the Robots as a Service (RaaS) business in Japanese warehouses.

Starship and Grubhub partner to bring robot delivery services to college campuses

Starship Technologies, a provider of autonomous delivery robots, and Grubhub, a food ordering and delivery marketplace, are partnering to provide robot delivery services on college campuses across the United States.

This delivery is currently available at the University of Kentucky, the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), Wayne State University, Southern Methodist University and Fairfield University, and will be available at multiple other college campuses later this year.

More than 170,000 students will have access to robot deliveries across these campuses, joining the list of over 25 schools across the United States where Starship’s robots provide deliveries with its global fleet of over 2,000 robots. Blue Robotics wins award from Society of Underwater Technology

The Society for Underwater Technology’s Gwyn Griffiths Award for Underwater Robotics has been won by Rustom (Rusty) Jehangir, founder and CEO of Blue Robotics, an ocean technology company based in Torrance, California.

Neil Bose, chair of SUT’s Underwater Robotics Panel, and vice president (research), Memorial University, Newfoundland and Labrador’s University, says: “The standard of entries for the SUT’s Gwyn Griffiths Award for Underwater Robotics was extremely competitive this year, and the nominees of high calibre, which challenged the judges to select this year’s winner.
