December 21, 2021 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

By Eric Whitley, L2L

The manufacturing industry is in the middle of the fourth industrial revolution.

Today’s smart factories produce high-quality products at competitive prices which can dominate the market and give the manufacturer an advantage over its competition.

The Future of the Workplace: The Rise of the Digital Workplace

December 21, 2021 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Since the Covid-19 pandemic rolled through the world the way companies conduct business has changed dramatically. A shift in business makes a significant impact upon the workforce across the globe. In a positive way.

Companies that could allow their employees the luxury of working from home during the lockdowns did so. The ones that were not able to do so continued to run as best that they could, cutting back on production and payroll to allow them to stay in business.

Some of them, anyway. Thousands of businesses had to go bankrupt and close their doors because they could not follow the shift of the business world. [Read more…] about The Future of the Workplace: The Rise of the Digital Workplace

10 Essential Services Your IT Support Company Should Cover

December 21, 2021 by Mark Allinson 1 Comment

Today, implementing the use of information technology (IT) is essential to the success of any business enterprise. It involves the use of computing systems to store and share information.

Major information technology components include computer hardware, computer software, telecommunications, database, and human resources.

You can depend on your internal IT department to provide computing services. However, you can reap more benefits by outsourcing such services from a third-party firm.

Outsourcing is the process of entrusting your business IT functions to a service provider instead of working with your internal workers. Some of the benefits of outsourcing your IT services include minimized costs, improved efficiency, quick implementation of new technologies, and much more. Everyday Robots comes out of Google Moonshot Factory with robots that can learn variety of tasks

December 21, 2021 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

A startup company called Everyday Robots has unveiled a new robot that it says can perform a range of tasks including wiping tables and windows as well as arrange chairs.

Everyday Robots started out as a project at Alphabet’s Moonshot Factory – also known as X, formerly Google X – but has now started to strike out on its own, setting up its own website as well.

Writing on X’s blog, Hans Peter Brøndmo, chief robot officer, says: “We are now operating a fleet of more than 100 robot prototypes that are autonomously performing a range of useful tasks around our offices. The same robot that sorts trash can now be equipped with a squeegee to wipe tables and use the same gripper that grasps cups can learn to open doors.” [Read more…] about Everyday Robots comes out of Google Moonshot Factory with robots that can learn variety of tasks

Using IDS cameras in fully automated wood parts inspection process

December 21, 2021 by David Edwards Leave a Comment

You always need and see them everywhere: in metalworking, on the construction site, in almost every toolbox… the good old hand brush.

Whether classic all-purpose brushes or brushes for special applications, the German-based company Lessmann GmbH has virtually all of them in its range.

The shape is varied, from straight to ergonomic. But they all have one thing in common: The wooden bodies are made exclusively from untreated red beech. Depending on the model, they also have two hanging holes at the end of the handle.

Production is fully automatic and highly rational. In order to ensure its own claim to the excellent quality of the hand brush woods, Lessmann has been relying on classic image processing for many years. [Read more…] about Using IDS cameras in fully automated wood parts inspection process

Einride completes auction for first design sketch of its autonomous truck

December 21, 2021 by Mark Allinson Leave a Comment

Swedish freight technology company Einride has completed an auction for the first-ever sketch of its award-winning Pod – its name for the autonomous truck it launched a few years ago. The auction was its first foray into the crypto space as the sketch was part of what’s called a “non-fungible token”.

A non-fungible token, or NFT, is a unique and non-interchangeable unit of data stored on a blockchain, which is a form of digital ledger and forms the basis of cryptocurrencies. Basically, it’s like a bitcoin or something you exchange for bitcoins.

The Pod, an all-electric, totally autonomous vehicle, was first debuted in 2016 and Einride has since delivered on its promise to reduce carbon emissions for customers by more than 90 percent compared with traditional diesel freight vehicles.
