The past 12 months or so have been completely unprecedented. Life as we know it was flipped completely upside down, all around the world. Not a single life hasn’t been touched by what has happened and it has been something that none of us has ever seen, or are likely to ever see again.

One thing that we can all agree on, no matter where we are reading this from, is that technology has been one of the most important things in our lives while everything has been going on.

Not only has it enabled schools to keep teaching and businesses to keep trading, but it has also meant that we have been able to keep in touch with our loved ones when we have needed them most.

Here are some of the top ways that technology has been so important in the past year…

It has kept us connected

Technology has been so important in the past few months in keeping us connected even when we were forced to stay apart. We managed to hold Zoom calls, Facetimes and quizzes with our family and friends to help us stay in touch.

People in hospitals who have not been allowed visitors have been able to speak to their loved ones and those that live along haven’t felt so isolated as they would have done otherwise.

We have been able to keep up to date with what has been happening on the news and connect with people all around the world via our computers and phones.

It has allowed us to make money on the side

The last year saw many people turning to side hustles or other ways to make money on the side while they were forced to stay at home. With the internet, many people could set up new websites, connect with clients or freelancers to help with their business and get things off the ground.

People bought cryptocurrencies and looked to buy ETH or bitcoin alongside others. These were all innovative ways of bringing in some extra money during hard times.

It has enabled businesses to keep going

While a lot of businesses had to adapt due to shop or premise closures, the internet meant that many could still keep running. Without technology, they would have had no way of making an income or selling and advertising their wares to potential customers.

This technology helped to keep many brands afloat and even expand in a way that they might not have thought possible beforehand. It forced many companies to rethink their marketing and SEO strategies and bring in a lot more businesses because of this.

These are just a few of the ways that technology has been so important in the past year. Without technology, the whole experience would have been completely different.

A number of businesses would have gone under, family members would have struggled and mental health problems would have certainly been much higher than they have been.
