The 4 longest and most dangerous haulage routes in the world

September 24, 2020 by Polly Leave a Comment

The haulage industry has come a long way from steam powered carts; technological revolution and globalisation have pushed the industry to the forefront, today “85 per cent of everything Brits buy, eat, wear and use is moved by a UK-registered lorry”. From the clothes on your back, to the bricks and mortar that are used to build your home – it probably came in a lorry.

Long haul trucking is defined as any form of trucking that requires the driver to stay away from home because the journey cannot be completed in a day. HGVs are everywhere and are used in all industries, from huge scale machinery movers to retail product delivery.

Drivers are often required to live a partially nomadic lifestyle because the role requires them to regularly commit to long time periods away from home, It is not uncommon for a long-haul driver to travel the whole length of a country and even travel internationally, however, some journeys are considerably longer than others and some pose a greater risk. Survey suggests public has safety concerns about autonomous vehicles

September 24, 2020 by Elaine Leave a Comment

Motional, the driverless vehicle development company created by Hyundai Motor Group and Aptiv, has released its inaugural Motional Consumer Mobility Report, which examines Americans’ perceptions of driverless vehicles.

The study found that one-fifth of Americans are more interested in driverless vehicles than they were before the pandemic.

The survey was carried out from July 17-21, 2020, and considered 1,003 responses from US consumers sampled using a blind online panel recruitment. The overall margin of error for the research is +/- 3.02 percent at a 95 percent confidence interval). [Read more…] about Survey suggests public has safety concerns about autonomous vehicles

OnRobot launches robotic sanding system

September 24, 2020 by Elaine Leave a Comment

OnRobot has launched OnRobot Sander, an all-electric random orbital sander for automated finishing applications, including sanding and polishing.

Traditional sanding automation solutions often require a background in robotics to implement and maintain. With the launch of OnRobot Sander, manufacturers now have access to a complete out-of-the-box sanding tool that’s easy to use with all major collaborative and lightweight industrial robots.

The complete Sander package incorporates everything OnRobot customers need to get their sanding application started quickly and easily: a plug-and-play sanding tool, a variety of standard sanding and polishing pads, easy-to-use programming software, an optional force/ torque sensor and a Grit Changer that enables automated switching between different sanding grits without operator intervention. Kassow Robots launches the 7-axis lightweight cobot KR1018

September 24, 2020 by Liv Leave a Comment

The Danish company Kassow Robots has expanded its product portfolio with the addition of the KR1018, a new, particularly strong model that can handle payloads of up to 18 kilogrammes.

The cobot itself weighs just 34 kilogrammes, a feature that enables it to meet a fundamental requirement for flexible automation solutions, especially in narrow spaces.

The special target group for the company’s fifth 7-axis cobot is industrial companies in the metalworking industry and other areas like the food-production sector that want to take the heavy lifting off the hands of their employees and have these individuals take over more demanding tasks. How to select the best rugged external drive

September 24, 2020 by Polly Leave a Comment

If you are someone who does their work on the go, you will find it necessary to have a portable storage device that can handle rough conditions like random drops, high temperatures, and minor water spills.

External drives (mainly HDDs) are so vulnerable if not handled with care. This is because they are mechanical, and a small distortion in the orientation of the plates and the head can lead to failure.

As a traveler, you may have to consider a couple of factors before deciding which external storage device to buy. [Read more…] about How to select the best rugged external drive
