Foretellix and MathWorks partner to develop autonomous vehicles for Mazda

Foretellix, a provider of data-driven autonomy development toolchains, and MathWorks, a developer of mathematical computing software, are partnering to help build Mazda’s next generation of autonomous vehicles.

This collaboration accelerates the development and deployment of “safer, more robust autonomous systems”, say the companies.

The integration of Foretellix’s Foretify platform with Simulink and Automated Driving Toolbox from MathWorks, enables developers to generate, execute, and analyze large-scale scenarios in a virtual environment. Why the Automotive Future is Electric

With the global automotive market shifting towards electrification at an unprecedented rate, electric cars or EVs are slated to become the next generation of personal transportation.

By 2040, an estimated 40 million units of EVs are expected to hit the roads, essentially replacing the IC engine. Several manufacturers have already shifted their focus on EV platforms and the latest entry into the segment is the Mazda MX-30, the company’s first all-electric offering.

Toyota and Mazda to invest extra $830 million into US factory

Japanese automakers Toyota and Mazda are planning to invest an additional $830 million into a manufacturing facility in the US, according to a report on Nikkei Asian Review. 

The Mazda Toyota Manufacturing site in Huntsville, Alabama will build sports utility vehicles and the total investment in the facility is estimated to be more than $2.3 billion.

The original plan, announced a couple of years ago, forecast investment to be $1.6 billion, and production was scheduled to start in 2021. Now, says Nikkei, production is expected to start in 2022. [Read more…] about Toyota and Mazda to invest extra $830 million into US factory

Mazda to make all its vehicles autonomous by 2025

Mazda has stated its intention to make all of its vehicles autonomous by 2025 as part of a broader plan to transform the entire company by 2030.

The company says it will “begin testing of autonomous driving technologies currently being developed in line with Mazda’s human-centered Mazda Co-Pilot Concept in 2020, aiming to make the system standard on all models by 2025”.
