In the ARIZ research project, Festo is working with partners to develop economical areas of application. The role of the human being in tomorrow’s production is often discussed. What new tasks will arise?

Machines and robots with extensive safety systems and suitable sensor technology enable humans and robots to move in the same work area and work together without safety barriers.

In order to increase economic efficiency, the ARIZ project has set itself the goal of establishing a flexible and versatile production assistant in safe human-machine cooperation.

Bosch and IHK offer Industry 4.0 qualification

Bosch has joined forces with the Stuttgart Region Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) in Germany and other science and industry partners to develop a certification course called Fachkraft für Industrie 4.0 (IHK), or Industry 4.0 specialist, and launch a pilot program.

The first nationwide IHK training course to cater to skilled workers, it brings technicians up to speed with the requirements of connected manufacturing.

Technologies that enable Industry 4.0 applications figure prominently on the syllabus, as do agile working methods.

Siemens and HP’s Aruba partner on integrated networks

Siemens and Aruba, a Hewlett Packard Enterprise company, have announced a strategic partnership focused on bridging the Operational Technology (OT) and Information Technology (IT) worlds.

Siemens is as a provider of industrial Ethernet network components and Aruba offers wired and wireless LAN infrastructure.

Digitisation, Industrie 4.0 and Industrial IoT are raising new challenges because now data increasingly must cross the boundary separating OT and IT.

Smart products and factories transforming engineering services industry

The rapid growth of smart products and smart factories is transforming the engineering services industry as never before, and providers are responding by digitalizing virtually every facet of their services portfolio, according to a new study from Information Services Group, a global technology research and advisory firm.

The latest ISG Provider Lens Quadrant report, the first ever by ISG to evaluate engineering services providers serving the US market, notes providers are moving to address the digital elements of core engineering functions – from concept and physical product development, to optimization of industrial design and operations, to software product and applications software development.

BISTel partners with Siemens on MindSphere applications for predictive maintenance

BISTeL, a provider of adaptive intelligent (AI) applications for smart manufacturing, has joined the MindSphere Partner Program, Siemens’ partner program for Industrial IoT solution and technology providers.

BISTel applications are expected to be available on the MindSphere platform Q1 2019.

The company has an advanced data analytics platform, eDatalzyer, and a real-time, health monitoring and predictive maintenance (HMP) solution, which will connect with the MindSphere cloud-based, open Industrial IoT platform.

Thailand and South Korea sign new trade and investment deals

Thailand and South Korea have been working closely to increase bilateral trade and investment.

The two countries are among the largest manufacturers of advanced technological products in the world.
