Total strengthens presence in industrial lubricants with new acquisitions

Total Lubrifiants has strengthened its presence in the industrial lubricants market with the acquisition of a number of business units from Houghton International.

Total has acquired the aluminum hot rolling oil, steel cold rolling oil and tinplate rolling oil activities in the North American and European Economic Area markets from Houghton.

Hanwha Aerospace acquires US aircraft engine component manufacturer

Hanwha Aerospace has signed a deal to fully acquire EDAC Technologies, an American aircraft engine component manufacturer. The deal is expected to be worth around USD 300 million, which will be finalised once negotiations are completed.

The Korean company made a preliminary bid for EDAC Technologies in April of 2019 and entered a period of due diligence before making a final offer.

EDAC Technologies is an aircraft engine component manufacturer based in Connecticut, with a workforce of 590 people. It recorded USD 150 million in revenue in 2018.

Mitsubishi Electric to acquire US software company Iconics

Mitsubishi Electric Corporation is to acquire the remaining shares of Iconics, Inc., a U.S. software company focused on SCADA, IoT, mobile, analytics and cloud software products for the manufacturing, industrial and building-automation markets.

The acquisition makes the company a 100% subsidiary within the Mitsubishi Electric Group.

Mitsubishi Electric aims to enhance its software product lineup to realise e-F@ctory, including edge-computing, by combining Iconics’ software-developing capabilities and Mitsubishi Electric’s factory-automation technology.

e-F@ctory is an integrated solution based on factory automation (FA) and information technologies to reduce the total cost of developing, producing and maintaining products.

Hitachi to acquire robotic systems integrator JR Automation for $1.4 billion

Hitachi has entered into a definitive contract for the acquisition of the robotic system integrator business mainly operated by an American headquartered company, JR Automation.

Hitachi will conduct the acquisition with Crestview Partners.

HMS Industrial Networks acquires Beck IPC

HMS Industrial Networks has acquired all shares in the German company Beck IPC located in Wetzlar, Germany.

Beck is a provider of technology and solutions for embedded control and industrial M2M communication, including solutions for the Industrial Internet of Things, IIoT.

BASF completes $9 billion acquisition of businesses and assets from Bayer

BASF has completed the acquisition of numerous businesses and assets from Bayer in a deal worth almost $9 billion.

BASF says it has purchased “a range of businesses and assets from Bayer”, including crop protection systems, and some digital assets.

Magna to acquire Olsa for $280 million to expand automotive lighting business

Components and systems supplier Magna us to acquire Olsa in order to expand its automotive lighting business.

The company says that automakers will soon have a familiar name to source lighting products “on a global scale” – Magna International.

Siemens acquires integrated circuit software developer Solido Design Automation to strengthen its digital offerings

Siemens is strengthening its digitalization offerings – in particular, its product lifecycle management platform – through a new acquisition.

Siemens has reached an agreement to acquire Solido Design Automation, a provider of machine learning-based variation-aware design and characterization software.

Emerson to acquire Paradigm for $510 million

Industrial automation company Emerson has reached a deal to acquire Paradigm, a provider of software solutions for the oil and gas industry. 

The purchase price is $510 million, which Emerson says reflects a multiple of 13 times expected 2017 EBITDA.
