Rockwell Automation completes acquisition of Clearpath Robotics and Otto Motors

Rockwell Automation, which says it is “the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation and digital transformation”, has completed its acquisition of Ontario, Canada-based Clearpath Robotics, a developer of autonomous robotics, including autonomous mobile robots for industrial applications.

The acquisition includes Clearpath Robotics’ namesake research division, a developer autonomous technology for the innovation market, and the industrial division Otto Motors, which provides AMRs, which Rockwell says is “the next frontier in industrial automation and transformation”.

Both divisions will report to Rockwell’s Intelligent Devices operating segment. Financial details do not appear to have been officially disclosed, but media reports say Rockwell may be paying $600 million for the acquisition. Comau designs and implements advanced automation solutions for global automaker’s Brazil factory

Industrial automation specialist Comau says it has designed and implemented its advanced automation solutions at a Stellantis Automotive facility in Brazil. Stellantis owns auto brands such as Fiat, Vauxhall and Jeep, among many others.

Comau’s installation at Stellantis Automotive Plant at Betim, Minas Gerais is part of a comprehensive retooling project to produce both the Fiat Pulse, the brand’s first SUV model in Brazil and the Fiat Fastback, its first SUV Coupe and one of the company’s main launches for the local market.

As part of the comprehensive project, Comau has enhanced an existing manufacturing platform to provide high-speed body assembly solutions for the main body, the body sides and the respot operations such that the two distinctly different SUVs could be produced on the same line. The Pixie Drone is designed to help keep coastlines free of plastic and other floating debris without disturbing marine life.

Equipped with Cimcorp’s robotic solution, Mercadona says it now delivers fresh produce from field to store within 24 hours, thereby increasing shelf life for products, minimizing food waste, and ensuring freshness for customers.

Automation has also helped Mercadona improve workplace safety and satisfaction for its employees. Lomar and Alicia Bots partner to develop robotic system for cleaning ship hulls

Lomar, a ship-owning and management group, and Alicia Bots, a tech start-up developing robotics and mobility solutions for the maritime, offshore, oil and gas industries, are partnering to develop a robotic system for ship hull maintenance.

The companies say this effort both integrates cutting-edge robotic hull inspection and cleaning solutions into Lomar’s biofouling control practices as well as tests new use cases, marking a “significant leap forward” in the maritime industry’s pursuit of efficiency and environmental responsibility.

Lomar is to implement Alicia Bots’ robotic technology on up to 15 of its vessels.
