Universal Robots launches e-Series ‘next-generation’ of its collaborative robot

Universal Robots, widely regarded as a pioneer and market leader in collaborative robots, has launched the “next generation” of its flagship product, the e-Series collaborative robot.

The company unveiled the new robot arms at Automatica, in Munich, Germany, and says the innovation is the result of Universal Robots “continuing to improve its ground-breaking technology”.

Collaborative robotics startup Kassow Robots signs up Project Group as first customer

Kassow Robots, a startup company which is showcasing its collaborative robot at Automatica this week, has already found its first customer.

The company says German packaging specialist Project Group has become the first system integrator for Kassow Robots.

Epson brings ‘WorkSense’ dual-armed robot to Europe

Epson Robots is demonstrating its newly expanded robotics range at Automatica 2018, including its new dual-arm robot, the WorkSense W-01.

This newly completed and unique line up of SCARA and vertical axis robots demonstrates Epson’s commitment to robotics innovation and to supporting growth in Europe, meeting the needs of both large and small manufacturers.

OnRobot and OptoForce target 250 per cent growth in Southeast Asia

Robotic solutions providers OnRobot and OptoForce – which are both now part of one single company – are aggressively targeting Southeast Asia, aiming to grow 250 per cent in the region this year.

Executives at the companies believe the increased demand will come from the electronics, automotive and CNC machining industries.

Canadian startup company Mecademic is to showcase the latest generation of its tiny industrial robots at Automatica.

Mecademic says its “ultra-compact and precise robots” as a further sign that the automation industry is seeing innovation.

Kassow Robots to launch lightweight collaborative robot at Automatica

Kassow Robots, the Denmark-based brainchild of robotics engineer Kristian Kassow and his two co-founders, is set to launch itself on a global stage at the Automatica trade fair in Munich in June 2018.

The Danish start-up, whose motto is “strong, fast, simple,” has been developing uniquely efficient 7-axis industrial lightweight robots since it was founded in 2014. Kassow robots are extremely fast and powerful, and are suitable for use in small spaces.

Epson Robots showcases robotics solutions for factory automation at ATX East

Epson Robots showcased its range of robotics solutions in factory automation at the Automation Technology show, ATX East.

At its booth was the new Synthis T3 All-in-One SCARA robot. It comes with a built-in controller, a new technology feature that is designed to reduce space requirements and simplify setup.

It offers an easy-to-install and fast integration solution perfect for simple applications such as pick and place, assembly, parts handling and dispensing, says the company. It is said to be ideal for customers looking to automate their factory without using complex slide-based solutions.

Hypertherm has launched a new version of its Robotmaster software, claiming it enables process experts to program without robotics or CAD/CAM expertise. (See video below.)

Former Universal Robots CEO launches ambitious plan for end-effectors sector

Enrico Krog Iversen, former CEO of collaborative robot maker Universal Robots, is partnering with the Danish Growth Fund to address what he sees as “the next challenge in automation” with the merger of three innovative end-of-arm tooling companies to facilitate the ongoing growth of collaborative robotics, an industry expected to reach $8.5 billion by 2025.

The new company – which combines US-based Perception Robotics, Hungary-based OptoForce, and Denmark-based On Robot – will be called OnRobot.

Former Universal Robots engineers launch Purple Robotics

A team of experienced, former Universal Robots engineers have launched a new company called Purple Robotics and have established US distribution for what they claims is “the world’s first dual electrical vacuum gripper”.

The “innovative PR10 collaborative gripper” needs no external air supply and can be installed in less than 30 minutes, says the company, adding that the dual gripper can cut production time up to 50 percent.
