Shinkei Systems, the seafood robotics company behind Seremoni Grade premium fish, has announced its expansion into wild Alaska sockeye salmon.
The launch of Seremoni Grade salmon brings the company’s highest standard of seafood to one of the most widely enjoyed fish in the United States.
Founded in 2021, Shinkei is transforming the seafood industry by combining patented robotics, supply chain tracking, cold storage, and the centuries-old Japanese fishing technique of ike jime to deliver chef-quality seafood at scale.
Together, the company’s proprietary handling method produces Seremoni Grade seafood, delivering exceptional flavor, delicate texture, and significantly longer shelf life than conventionally harvested fish.
Seremoni Grade salmon will begin rolling out to select retail and restaurant partners this summer.
The expansion also marks a significant investment in Cook Inlet, Alaska, home to some of the world’s most celebrated wild sockeye salmon fisheries.
By working with local seafood harvesters and processors, Shinkei equips participating fishermen with its harvesting technology at no cost and purchases their catch at a premium, creating new economic opportunities while ensuring more of each harvest reaches consumers at peak quality.
“Seremoni Grade reflects our team’s boat-to-plate obsession with quality,” said Saif Khawaja, co-founder and CEO of Shinkei Systems. “Salmon gives us another opportunity to bring that philosophy to millions more people while we continue to champion American fishermen and transform how premium seafood is harvested.”
To make that expansion possible, Shinkei developed PSDN-S, a new harvesting robot engineered specifically for the smaller vessels commonly used in Alaska’s salmon fisheries.
Nearly 60 percent smaller than the company’s flagship robot, PSDN-S delivers the same proprietary software, precision handling, and harvesting process in a compact form factor.
“Our technology only matters if it works in the environments where people actually fish,” said Reed Ginsberg, co-founder and CTO of Shinkei Systems.
“PSDN-S extends our platform to fit with the realities of Alaska’s salmon fleet while preserving the precision that defines Seremoni Grade. It opens the door for more fishermen to participate, deliver higher-quality seafood to consumers, and advance a fundamentally better way to harvest one of the world’s most important fisheries.”
The addition of salmon builds on Shinkei’s growing portfolio of Seremoni Grade seafood, including black cod, American red snapper, vermilion rockfish, and red grouper.
Today, Seremoni Grade seafood is served at acclaimed restaurants including Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Bar Miller, Nami Nori, Restaurant Daniel, and Holbox, and is available through leading retailers including Wegmans, FreshDirect, Erewhon, and others.
As Shinkei expands into new fisheries and species, it stays true to the mission that inspired its inception: harnessing technology so every fish reaches a plate at the quality it deserves.
