ABB opens its Mexico Technology and Engineering Center

ABB has established a new regional operations center for North America, bringing technology expertise closer to customers and building on its similar resources globally.

An initial $1 million investment has been made for the new Mexico Technology and Engineering Center (MXTEC) in the city of Merida, Yucatan, to help the technology leader to reach higher project delivery capacity and increase competitiveness.

The center, located within the modern SkyWork building alongside a community of technology and cyber security companies, will be a go-to resource for ABB engineers and covers disciplines including automation, electrical and software engineering. SICK launches new linear encoder for industrial applications

SICK has launched a new linear encoder product family for high-precision detection of piston positions in hydraulic cylinders and the monitoring of linear movements in machines. The DAX linear encoder product family provides flexibility for countless industrial applications.

The product family offers three designs to suit these applications, all with industry-appropriate measuring ranges. An Online Configurator provides step-by-step assistance to users in selecting a suitable DAX.

Brain Corp partners with Google Cloud to introduce analytics solution for retailers

Brain Corp, an artificial intelligence company creating technologies in robotics, is partnering with Google Cloud to launch “BrainOS Inventory Insights”, a new and proprietary solution able to deliver next generation in-store inventory analytics to retailers. 

Brain Corp, which already powers the largest global fleet of autonomous robots in public spaces and the world’s largest fleet of robotic inventory scanners, will now offer retail customers “a true end-to-end solution” for analyzing the inventory data collected by its BrainOS powered inventory scanning robots.

Using BrainOS Inventory Insights, retailers will be able to quickly identify out-of-stock and low stock events, assess product details such as where an item is (product location), if it’s in the correct location (planogram compliance) and ensure it’s priced correctly (​​price tag compliance). GreyOrange launches GreyMatter open API to manage variety of robotic systems

GreyOrange, a provider of automated robotic fulfillment and inventory optimization software, has launched its GreyMatter open API (application programming interface). 

The API enables any vendor’s robotic solution to seamlessly connect to the GreyMatter fulfillment orchestration platform, giving customers the freedom to choose the technology that fits their warehouse environment.

Nvidia and Abu Dhabi join $73 million Outrider funding round

Outrider, a startup developing autonomous yard operations for logistics hubs, has closed $73 million in Series C financing led by FM Capital. 

New investors include a wholly owned subsidiary of the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA) and NVentures, Nvidia’s venture capital arm.

Existing investors participating in the round include Koch Disruptive Technologies (KDT) and New Enterprise Associates (NEA). Outrider has raised $191 million in financing to date based on its technical leadership in autonomous systems for distribution yards. Nauticus Robotics expands into Europe with operating bases in Norway and the UK

Nauticus Robotics, a Houston-based developer of ocean robots, autonomy software, and services to the marine industries, has launched operations in Norway and the United Kingdom, beginning the company’s international expansion strategy for 2023 and beyond.

The operating bases are strategically located in Stavanger, Norway and Aberdeen, Scotland to service the North Sea offshore market.

The company will deploy assets and collaborate with local partners to service the region’s extensive offshore wind and oil and gas assets with its expanding Nauticus Fleet, a robotic navy of surface and subsea robots.
