Hyundai Robotics receives order for 370 industrial robots

Hyundai Robotics has won what it describes as “a giant deal” from the Hyundai Motors Indonesian automotive plant for industrial robots.

Hyundai Robotics, which was officially launched as a new company on May 1st, 2020, says the order is for 370 industrial robotic arms for the new facility.

Located in the Deltamas Industrial Complex near Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, Hyundai Motors’ first manufacturing plant in southeast Asia will be completed in 2022.

The plant will be constructed in an area that is 776,000 sq m, with a manufacturing capacity of up to 250,000 cars. Hyundai Motors expects the plant to become a beachhead for its ASEAN business.

The key automotive market of major ASEAN countries – which includes Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Singapore – is expected to reach approximately 4.49 million by 2026, up from 3.16 million in 2017.

That’s why Hyundai Robotics plans to supply about 370 vehicle manufacturing robots and peripherals and proceed with the construction on “a turnkey basis” from installing to test driving and more in the Hyundai Motors’ new Indonesian plant by the year 2022.

To build a smart factory, the new Indonesian plant will be implemented with cutting-edge technologies such as automatic recognition of car types and specs, real-time equipment inspection, and preventive diagnosis.

Hyundai Robotics won the order after competitive bidding alongside global leading companies in Japan, Germany, and Switzerland and was able to prove its outstanding technological prowess.

An official from Hyundai Robotics says: “We will do our best so that this construction can become a driving force for developing the future by building the new ASEAN market.”
