Universal Robots, widely recognized as the market leader in collaborative robots, earlier this year announced that it is celebrating its 25,000th cobot sale by giving away a Gold Edition cobot, shipped free of cost, to one lucky customer.

However, due to a huge response and interest from customers all around the world, Universal Robots has decided to offer a Gold Edition cobot to a customer in each of Universal Robots’ geographical areas worldwide.

The reward for each of these customers is the previously announced Golden Cobot with the joints painted in a rich, gold-colored finish, which is a refreshing take on Universal Robots’ iconic blue and grey cobots.  [Read more…] about Universal Robots gives away a golden robot to one person in each of its geographical areas around the world

BASF presents 3D-printed formworks

September 13, 2018 by Anna

BASF applications technicians are demonstrating 3D-printed formworks and concrete cast parts at the first International Conference on Concrete and Digital Fabrication, in Zürich, Switzerland, from September 9 to 13, 2018.

Visitors will be able to see how 3D-printed formwork can be used in practice, thanks to an innovative system and adapted concrete materials. The concrete additives and grouts, under the brand name of Master Builders Solutions, are optimised for the filling of 3D-printed formworks which can already be used on projects today.

3D-printing is an additive manufacturing process in which workpieces are built up in layers in a computer-controlled process. This way, highly complex shapes can be generated, including formworks for concrete casting.

HP launches advanced metals 3D printing technology for mass production

September 13, 2018 by Anna

HP launched HP Metal Jet at the 2018 International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) this week. The company claims it is the world’s most advanced 3D printing technology for the high volume manufacturing of production-grade metal parts.

Providing, it says, up to 50 times more productivity at a significantly lower cost than other 3D printing methods, HP Metal Jet is being deployed by manufacturing leaders GKN Powder Metallurgy and Parmatech for the factory production of final parts.

Customers placing orders include global firms Volkswagen (see story) and Wilo and vertical market companies such as Primo Medical Group and OKAY Industries.

Bayer completes Monsanto acquisition

September 13, 2018 by Anna

Bayer successfully completed the biggest acquisition in its history in the second quarter of 2018, while operational performance improved, even without taking into account the newly acquired Monsanto business.

Sales advanced at three of the four segments on a currency- and portfolio-adjusted basis. “We are on track to achieve our annual targets,” said Werner Baumann, Chairman of the Board of Management, when he presented the interim report .

EBITDA before special items increased thanks to growth at Crop Science and Animal Health. Bayer has adjusted its Group outlook to account for the sales and earnings contributions from Monsanto from the date of the acquisition. The company aims to pay out a dividend per share for 2018 that is at least at the same level as in the prior year.
