One of the leading universities in Canada says it is “ready to train the next generation” of mechatronics eggheads.

Kwantlen Polytechnic University, located in Vancouver, has opened a new program to train the next generation of brainiacs needed to control and maintain electronic industrial machinery.

Independent Kosovo college reorganises Summer Academy for second year

Mitsubishi launches new devices to visualise production sites

Mitsubishi Electric Automation says it is making it easy for small- to medium-sized factories to realise the benefits of an Andon system, with the introduction of iQ Monozukuri Andon.

The simple, cost-effective Andon package allows visualisation of production sites using Mitsubishi Electric’s GOT2000 graphic operation terminal and a web browser.

iQ Monozukuri Andon offers pre-engineered project data and software to quickly and easily implement and operate an Andon system, claims the firm.

Bosch plans to sell its packaging business

Bosch has decided to look for a buyer for its packaging machinery business (PA), more specifically the pharmaceuticals and food units of the Packaging Technology division.

The company said that it had not identified any sufficiently relevant synergy effects in terms of business or technology that might offer the division prospects for the future within Bosch and that packaging technology was not part of the group’s core business.

PA is involved in project business relating to specialised areas of the packaging industry. The company also operates in a competitive environment in which the players are small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and who are therefore at a structural advantage.

Stäubli Group – a global leader in mechatronic solutions – has acquired RS Roman Seliger Armaturenfabrik GmbH, based in Norderstedt, Germany.

For over 100 years, Roman Seliger has been a specialised partner in the development of standard and safety dry-disconnect couplings, delivering solutions for the handling of all fluid media to its customers.

The acquisition of Roman Seliger by Stäubli is in line with the company’s successful growth strategy. It also allows to join innovative forces in new complementary fields such as big diameter couplings, breakaway technologies and cryogenics.
