Leuze launches ‘smallest’ camera-based sensor for fine positioning in warehouse storage applications

Leuze electronic claims it has launched the industry’s smallest camera-based sensor.

The IPS 200i is designed for compartment fine positioning with high-bay storage devices in single-depth storage.

AImotive raises $38 million funding for its autonomous driving technology

AImotive, a startup developer of autonomous vehicle technology, has closed its $38 million Series C funding round.

The funding round was led by B Capital Group and Prime Ventures, with participation from Cisco Investments, Samsung Catalyst Fund, and Series A and B investors Robert Bosch Venture Capital, Inventure, Draper Associates and Day One Capital.

Impinj ships 25 billionth Rain RFI­­­­­D endpoint integrated circuit

Impinj, a provider of Rain RFID solutions, says it has now shipped its 25 billionth Monza endpoint integrated circuit, including 7.1 billion in 2017 alone.

Impinj claims it has shipped more endpoint ICs than all other Rain RFID suppliers combined.

Electronic design automation industry revenue increases to more than $2.3 billion in last quarter

The Electronic System Design Alliance Market Statistics Service reports that electronic design automation (EDA) industry revenue increased 8 percent for Q3 2017 to $2,262.2 million, compared to $2,093.7 million in Q3 2016.

The four-quarters moving average, which compares the most recent four quarters to the prior four quarters, increased by 11.5 percent.

Seat to build tallest automated warehouse in Spain

Automaker Seat says it is continuing with its commitment to making its Martorell, Spain factory “a benchmark of Industry 4.0”.

Seat, part of the Volkswagen Group, is going ahead with the construction of a new, automated logistics centre.

Canvass Analytics partners with True North Automation on industrial automation

AirSpaceX unveils electric aircraft in Detroit

Airspace Experience Technologies has unveiled a sub-scale model of its autonomous, electric VTOL aircraft, MOBi-ONE, at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

MOBi-ONE is designed to autonomously take off like a helicopter, fly like a plane, and transport passengers or cargo between urban centers, suburbs, and airports within 60 miles. MOBi-ONE will fly at a top speed of 250 mph leveraging existing Electric Vehicle (EV) architecture and autonomous technologies.

Recent advances in electric propulsion, automation, and lightweight materials now make the development of this new class of aircraft possible.
