Comau and Fincantieri unveil ‘first’ mobile robot shipbuilding system

Industrial automation specialist Comau and shipbuilder Fincantieri, two of Italy’s largest and most well-known industrial companies, have unveiled the first result of their joint collaboration: the MR4Weld (Mobile Robot for Welding) mobile robot.

The companies describe the robotic system as “an innovative outdoor automation solution to improve quality, performance and well-being during labor-intensive welding activities”.

The companies have also renewed their strategic agreement to apply technology, digitalization, and innovation within cutting-edge, mobile robotic solutions that will increase production speed and worker well-being, by automating traditionally manual processes. Meltio launches new robot cell for additive manufacturing

Meltio, a wire-laser metal deposition additive manufacturing company, has launched its Meltio Robot Cell, a metal additive manufacturing solution.

Meltio says its robot sell will boost the performance of a industrial robotic arm in a safer, more reliable and highly accurate way by controlling the entire process including its recently launched slicing software Meltio Space.

Clevon’s T-Mobile powered autonomous delivery robot fleet zooms into smart city Peachtree Corners

Peachtree Corners, one of America’s “first” smart cities powered by real-world connected infrastructure and 5G, says Clevon, an autonomous delivery company, is joining the city’s Curiosity Lab ecosystem.

Clevon’s autonomous robot carriers (ARCs), powered by T-Mobile connectivity, are designed to collect orders at warehouses, retail stores, dark stores and micro fulfillment centers, and then deliver those goods to people and businesses around the city.

Sphere Entertainment unveils humanoid ‘spokesbot and storyteller’ as guide at new venue

Aura the Robot, claimed by its makers to be “the world’s most advanced humanoid robot”, will permanently reside in the grand atrium of Sphere in Las Vegas. The announcement was made by the feminoid Aura herself.

Serving as the venue’s spokesbot Aura will interact with guests at the next-generation venue, and serve as an integral part of The Sphere Experience featuring Darren Aronofsky’s Postcard from Earth.

Badger Technologies and Stop & Shop stores upgrade Marty the robot

Badger Technologies, a product division of Jabil and provider of robots for retail automation, has teamed up with Stop & Shop, an Ahold Delhaize USA company, to expand its use of Marty the Robot at more than 300 Stop & Shop stores throughout the Northeast.

The robot now conducts product checks to help ensure greater on-shelf availability for customers by alerting store associates when items need re-stocking.

Ascento rolls out latest security patrolling robot with new $4.3 million funding round

Labour shortages have affected large parts of the world and various industries.

The security industry is also feeling the crunch, with many countries around the world facing a 52 percent staff shortage of security guards which means companies are struggling to fulfill contractual obligations or sign new business.

Otto Group teams up with Boston Dynamics

Otto Group, one of the world’s largest e-commerce retailers, has signed a strategic agreement with Boston Dynamics, a developer of mobile robotics and maker of highly innovative machines, to continue automating its logistics operations.

The plan is to deploy Boston Dynamics’ Spot robots in more than 10 and Stretch robots in more than 20 of the group’s facilities over the next two years, beginning with Hermes Fulfilment.

The deployment supports Otto Group’s efforts to improve safety, increase operational efficiency and address labor shortages for specific types of warehouse work and the agreement marks the first time both of Boston Dynamics’ commercially available robots will be deployed together at enterprise scale. New RoboDK software ‘simplifies robot programming by demonstration’

RoboDK, a Canadian-European robot programming software company, has released the design and assembly instructions of the TwinTrack Probe.

Available from September 2023, the cost-effective tool allows users to easily record complex paths in RoboDK with an off-the-shelf HTC VIVE tracker and a simple 3D printed tool.
