Yamaha Motor has selected Siemens to provide product lifecycle management software to support its digitalization initiative.
Yamaha will deploy the Siemens’ Teamcenter portfolio across all development divisions of their key business, motorcycle products.

GE Ventures and Silver Lake have invested $40 million into Aras, a provider of enterprise product lifecycle management software.
The investment round was led by Silver Lake Kraftwerk, a fund of Silver Lake, with participation from GE Ventures, the investment arm of General Electric.
Aras says it will use this minority investment to drive growth, expand operations – including Aras’ service and support – and further extend Aras’ technology leadership through development and acquisitions. PTC says bookings for its product lifecycle management software-as-a-service solution have doubled over the last four quarters.
This expansion complements PTC’s new subscription model and aligns with the recent findings of a cloud PLM study conducted by CIMdata, an independent global strategic management consulting and research authority focused on the PLM market.

Arena Solutions, a provider of cloud-based product lifecycle management solutions has received an investment from JMI Equity, a growth equity firm focused on investing in software companies.
Arena describes itself as all-in-one product development platform that unites PLM, application lifecycle management, supply chain collaboration, and quality management systems.
Founded in 2000, Arena claims it invented cloud-based PLM and today provides an all-in-one product development platform that unites PLM, ALM, supply chain collaboration, and QMS for the design and manufacture of complex electronics. Siemens has reached an agreement to acquire self-driving software specialist Tass International.
Siemens is said to be Europe’s largest engineering company and has been on the acquisitions and investments trail for some time.
Earlier this year, Siemens spent $4.5 billion buying Mentor Graphics, a builder of electronic hardware and software solutions. Last year, it invested more than $130 million in Bentley Systems, a developer of software solutions which can show factories in digital form.
