Vention launches robotic sanding solution for carpenters

March 3, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Vention, creator of the world’s only full-stack automation platform and hardware ecosystem,  has launched its first “turnkey” – or ready to use – robotic sanding solution in response to growing demand for robot work cells for sanding applications, especially in cabinet making.

Vention’s Rapid Sanding Solution (RSS) comes standard with a Fanuc CRX-30iA, a collaborative robot with advanced safety features for working alongside humans.

An affordable, easy-to-maintain laser system makes panel measurement easy for the robot arm, which comes equipped with a PushCorp rectangular sanding tool. [Read more…] about Vention launches robotic sanding solution for carpenters

Celanese suggests replacing metal parts in robots with polymers

April 9, 2021 by David Edwards

Choosing materials is one of the most important decisions when designing and building a machine such as a robot, particularly one that moves around, like an autonomous warehouse robot or an automated guided vehicle.

Most of the machines this website features in its articles and advertising use metals for the vast majority of their components. Even the outer casing on most industrial robots tends to be a metal such as iron or steel.

However, according to an expert at Celanese, one of the largest materials companies in the world, the vast majority of components and parts that are currently made out of metal can actually be replaced with polymers or thermoplastics. [Read more…] about Celanese suggests replacing metal parts in robots with polymers

ufactory uarm robot

These days, it seems barely a week goes by without someone somewhere building a robotic arm of some description.

Using components which can be bought from almost anywhere online, and chipsets such as Arduino and Raspberry Pi, the “makers” of the world are launching more and more sophisticated pieces of equipment.

While there are internationally agreed codes about what defines a true “collaborative” robot and other industrial-standard machines, startups are bypassing those specifications and releasing products which may eventually require some sort of regulation of their own.  [Read more…] about Startup launches desktop robot selling for less than $300
