6 New Advances in the Automotive Aftermarket

February 11, 2025 by Mark Allinson

The automotive aftermarket industry is all about the parts, services, and upgrades needed to keep a vehicle running after it leaves the dealership.

Over the past few years, this industry has seen big changes thanks to new technology, shifting customer needs, and evolving regulations.

According to Grand View Research, the global automotive aftermarket is expected to grow from $468.91 billion in 2024 to over $585 billion by 2030. [Read more…] about 6 New Advances in the Automotive Aftermarket

Carnegie Mellon develops Apple-inspired recycling robot

February 10, 2025 by Mark Allinson

A researcher from Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Computer Science is using robotics to improve e-waste recycling.

E-waste is one of the fastest-growing types of waste in the world, with an estimated 62 million tons produced in 2022 alone. But only about 20 percent of that was recycled. As reliance on tech devices grows, finding ways to salvage and recycle their components becomes critical.

Matt Travers, a senior systems scientist in the School of Computer Science’s Robotics Institute, has launched a new company, roboLoop, that uses technology inspired by his e-waste recycling research partnership with Apple to help disassemble flat panel displays. roboLoop’s robot was recently installed at a facility in State College, Pennsylvania. The new robot speeds up e-waste recycling for flat-screen displays. [Read more…] about Carnegie Mellon develops Apple-inspired recycling robot

Collaborative robots market forecast to reach $7.2 billion by 2030

February 10, 2025 by Mark Allinson

Collaborative robots (cobots) are a versatile, cost-effective robot form factor that is demonstrating value across many industry verticals.

According to a new report from global technology intelligence firm ABI Research, revenue from cobots will increase from $970 million in 2023 to $7.2 billion by 2030, a compound annual growth rate of 28 percent. Safety, lower average selling prices, and accessibility will drive collaborative robot sales.

George Chowdhury, robotics industry analyst at ABI Research, says: “Cobots are at the forefront of the robotics revolution. They have the potential to democratize automation and bring robots into new markets, working side-by-side with human workers to unlock economic growth. Automotive revolution: Innovation, industrial autonomy, and global challenges

February 10, 2025 by Mark Allinson

By Laurent Coussonnet, business development director, Linxens

The automotive industry is at a crossroads: between technological innovations and environmental challenges, it must reinvent its models for a sustainable future. But which regions, technologies, and policies will shape this global revolution?

Despite a 10 percent growth in 2023, global car sales are expected to slow to 2-3 percent in 2024, far from pre-pandemic levels.

Electric vehicles (EVs), the drivers of this transition, saw record growth of 32 percent in 2023, but rising interest rates and stricter credit conditions will weigh on the ability of households and businesses to finance capacities, postponing some vehicle purchases to 2025.
