DoorDash, a local commerce platform specializing in home food delivery, and Wing, a residential drone delivery company, have announced the expansion of their partnership to metro Atlanta.
The launch introduces a new way for metro Atlanta consumers to order from their favorite local merchants, expanding delivery options across the platform.
Eligible DoorDash consumers near Tanger Outlets Locust Grove can order from a selection of local and national restaurants and choose to have their items delivered by drone in as little as 20 minutes.
The initial lineup includes Atlanta favorites such as Molinos Mexican Grill, Koji Japanese Steakhouse, and Sabrosos Mexican Restaurant. To celebrate the launch, eligible consumers in metro Atlanta can get $5 off and a $0 delivery fee on their first $10+ drone order.
The metro Atlanta expansion builds on a growing partnership between DoorDash and Wing. Since first launching together in 2022, the companies have expanded drone delivery to parts of Southwest Virginia, the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and the Charlotte region, completing tens of thousands of deliveries.
Harrison Shih, head of the DoorDash drone program, says: “Autonomous delivery is an important part of how we’re making local commerce faster, more delightful, and more sustainable.
“We’re excited to introduce drone delivery to metro Atlanta with Wing as we continue to expand our autonomous capabilities and bring new delivery options to DoorDash consumers. By bringing our Wing partnership to a new city, we’re helping local merchants reach more consumers while improving speed and reliability.”
Getting started with drone delivery is simple. Eligible consumers will see a drone icon in the DoorDash app, where they can browse participating restaurants. If items meet size and weight requirements, consumers with an address in the eligible delivery zone can select drone delivery at checkout and track their order in real time as it arrives.
Metro Atlanta residents can check their address for eligibility at https://wing.com/get-delivery, and those outside the initial service area can join the waitlist to be notified when drone delivery expands to their neighborhood.
Heather Rivera, chief business officer at Wing, says: “Metro Atlanta residents deserve an easy, ultra-fast way to enjoy their favorite meals at peak freshness. Wing completes thousands of drone deliveries daily across major US metros, and growing our DoorDash partnership helps us deliver that speed to even more local doorsteps.”
The expansion reflects DoorDash’s broader strategy to build a multi-modal network that includes Dashers, drones, and other autonomous solutions.
By integrating leading partners like Wing and leveraging its Autonomous Delivery Platform, DoorDash can match each order with the most effective delivery method, helping merchants meet rising consumer demand while creating new opportunities for everyone.
This partnership was born out of DoorDash Labs, DoorDash’s robotics and automation arm, which focuses on exploring and scaling technologies that enhance the delivery experience for consumers, merchants, and Dashers alike.
