Covvi has unveiled two new wrist options for the Covvi Hand, which will make the advanced prosthesis available to more people with upper-limb differences than ever before.
Engineered to meet the unique needs of every user, Covvi’s bionic hand will soon be available in three distinct wrist options – the original Covvi Hand featuring a flexing wrist, alongside the new Straight Wrist, and Friction Wrist variants.
The original Covvi Hand’s ‘Flex Wrist’ enables users to adjust the angle of their hand for various tasks, offering 27 degrees of flexion and extension that can be securely locked.
This allows users to position their hand inwards to perform tasks like zipping up a jacket, as well as extending outward for activities like pushing carts.
Now introducing two new wrist variants of the bionic hand, Covvi will soon provide people with more varied types of limb differences access to this advanced prosthetic.
The new “Straight Wrist” version of the Covvi Hand represents an industry standard, with its static wrist design. It is both lighter and shorter than the original Covvi Hand.
Featuring an Easy Quick Disconnect (EQD) connection – also present in the “Flex Wrist” version of the Covvi Hand – this model can easily be swapped with other prosthetic attachments without clinical assistance.
The “Friction Wrist” option has been designed specifically for people with a longer residual limb. As the shortest and lightest variant of the Covvi Hand when installed on a prosthetic, it’s connection can be built directly into a user’s socket.
This means that for users with longer limbs, the shorter wrist configuration provides an improved cosmetic appearance and positioning.
Since the Covvi Hand’s inception, there has been continued work to expand the range of choice available for users and clinicians.
Also available in multiple colours options, three sizes, and with endless ways to tailor features through the Covvi Go App, the Covvi Hand stands out as one of the most personalised upper-limb prosthetic devices in the world.
Simon Pollard, Covvi CEO, says: “We’re excited to be opening doors for more individuals than ever before to use Covvi’s revolutionary prosthetic devices.
“It is imperative that those who would benefit from advanced bionic technology are able to access it, this announcement is yet another step towards achieving that goal.
“With the Straight Wrist and Friction Wrist options coming soon, alongside the original flex wrist variant of the Covvi Hand, we are yet again enhancing bionic personalisation.”
With a series of unique features and innovative prosthetic solutions, Covvi is paving the way for upper-limb bionics.
