Intrinsic unveils new AI-powered industrial automation solutions at Automatica 2025

Intrinsic – a business unit of Alphabet, parent company of Google – is showcasing at Automatica 2025 several new AI-enabled robotic systems and platform enhancements aimed at transforming how automation providers and manufacturers build, deploy, and scale intelligent solutions.

The company has announced support for end-to-end solution development for CNC machine tending and optical inspection use cases on its Intrinsic platform. These new capabilities combine Intrinsic Flowstate, AI-powered perception, motion planning, and IntrinsicOS to streamline complex industrial automation tasks.

Among the highlights at the trade show are demonstrations from three new customers – Newston Automated Solutions, Bürkert Fluid Control Systems, and MartinSystems – each presenting their first solutions built with Intrinsic.

AI-enabled optical inspection for high-mix production

NEWSTON, known for providing precision solutions to the automotive sector, has developed a robotic optical inspection system for Bürkert Fluid Control Systems, a company that manufactures over 130,000 product variations.

Previously reliant on manual quality checks using handheld scanners, Bürkert now uses a fully automated robot-guided inspection system.

The system adapts to part position and executes inspection tasks autonomously, removing the need for operators to engage directly with AI or programming.

Gernot Sattelmayer, head of applications at Newston, says: “With Intrinsic, we finally have a door opener that makes it easy for our customers to utilize our measurement system.

“Traditionally, automation needed a fixed robot program, but we can now bring parts in with the robot programming done by AI, which ultimately opens up entirely new kinds of solutions for customers like Bürkert.”

Dr Anne März, head of digital toolchain at Bürkert, says: “The high variance and degree of precision required to manufacture our products has made it difficult for us to turn to automation processes.

“But the power and versatility of AI-enabled robotics that we’re seeing from Intrinsic is already making the work of our employees much easier and faster.”

The system is being demonstrated live at Newston’s booth on the Automatica show floor.

CNC machine tending and adaptive robotics

In the CNC market, Intrinsic is highlighting a collaboration with MartinSystems, which has developed an AI-powered machine tending solution using the Intrinsic platform.

The system handles raw aluminum stock and automates the process of picking and placing parts using AI-powered perception, motion planning, and grasp logic. It is designed to operate without the need for custom fixtures or robot programming.

Claus Martin, CEO and founder of MartinSystems, says: “We’re excited to be working with the team at Intrinsic to bring robotics and high mix production to our customers with machine tending operations.

“While the need for adaptive and easy-to-use robotics systems has long existed, our new AI-powered CNC workpiece handling systems finally offer the technical capability and economic viability to fulfill this demand.”

New foundation model for pose detection

Also being introduced is a new version of Intrinsic’s foundation model for pose estimation, now integrated into Flowstate for instant developer access.

The model enables one-shot detection of objects based on CAD files without requiring training, and it can adapt to different lighting, materials, and camera environments.

Initially inspired by the OWL-ViT architecture and developed in collaboration with Google DeepMind, the model has been pre-trained on synthetic data from more than 130,000 objects.

The system is designed to work in both simulated and real environments, offering industrial-grade performance with minimal setup time and no training costs. Intrinsic says future foundation models will also cover additional tasks such as motion and grasp planning.

Expanding ecosystem and events

Customers and collaborators such as Trinity Robotics Automation, SoTec, and Roboception are also helping to extend the Intrinsic ecosystem.

Intrinsic executives are scheduled to participate in keynote sessions and panel discussions throughout the week at Automatica, while booth talks will feature partners including Nvidia and other industry stakeholders.

Attendees can visit Intrinsic at Hall B4, Stand 310 to explore these technologies and speak with the company’s team.
