How to become a G-Code master with a complete list of G-Codes

As a generic name for a plain-text language in which CNC machine are able to understand, G-Codes are important to understand in the manufacturing, automation and engineering spaces.

You can enter a G-Code manually if you wish, but you do not have to because of the CAD/CAM software’ abilities along with the machine controller.

China’s manufacturing heartland to integrate 20,000 more robots

Communist Chinese government propaganda mouthpiece Xinhua is reporting that another 20,000 industrial robots will be installed in the country’s manufacturing heartland, Guangdong Province. 

Quoting Guangdong governor, Ma Xingrui, the state news agency says the robots are to be integrated into operations by the end of this year.

Lufthansa Cargo invests in Fleet’s freight shipping tool

Fleet, a startup online marketplace that simplifies international freight shipping, today announced it has completed a $10 million Series A round of financing.

Lufthansa Cargo led the investment round with participation from existing and new investors including Hunt Technology Ventures, UPS, UP2398, 1517 Fund, among other previous investors.

Led by 21-year-old Max Lock, Fleet has raised a total of $14 million since its launch in 2014.

Freight Farms to add business management capabilities to farming software

Freight Farms – manufacturer of smart hydroponic container farms and developer of the farmhand automation and remote control suite – has acquired Boston-based Cabbige, an online business management application for small-scale farmers. Cabbige’s inventory, crop, and financial management software will be integrated into its Farmhand system.

Freight Farms is as much a software developer as a hardware manufacturer. Today, Farmhand supports farms in over 35 states and 10 countries. Growers using Farmhand can already monitor their operations, control environment settings, track production, and replenish supplies using the mobile or web app.

With upcoming Cabbige software integration, Farmhand users will have greater business management capabilities and the the tools to run both their farm and business from a single application.

Drone software company secures over $750,000 in seed funding

Converge, a commercial drone software provider, has raised over three quarters of a million in seed funding. The company’s initial round of funding included investors Samsung NEXT, Techstars Ventures, Kima Ventures, and other angel investors.

The commercial drone market is expected to grow to $58.3 bn as traditional industries incorporate drones to execute tasks from delivery to inspections through to emergency response.

It is the fastest growing drone market segment, however AI software is needed to move beyond intensive, hands-on planning, flying and distilling data to an automated world where drones are a seamless part of business operations.
