Mentor and TowerJazz provide ‘first commercial comprehensive suite of analog constraint checks for enhanced automotive reliability offering’

Mentor, a Siemens business, and TowerJazz, the global specialty foundry leader, have launched a new suite of analog design constraint checks for the automotive sector.

The system includes checks such as device alignment, symmetry, orientation/parameter matching and more, and leverage the “delicate analog layout requirements and automotive reliability check templates available for use with the Calibre Perc platform”, says Mentor.

Siemens to showcase wide range of digitalization applications for machine and plant builders at SPS IPC Drives

Siemens says it will be exhibiting a wide array of applications and examples of how machine and plant builders can “sharpen their competitive edge with digitalization” at SPS IPC Drives 2017.

Exhibiting under the banner “Discover the Value of the Digital Enterprise” in Hall 11 across an impressive 4,400 square meter exhibition space, the company will be presenting the latest additions to its digital enterprise portfolio.

MarkForged raises $30 million in new funding from Siemens and Porsche for 3D printing system

A company called MarkForged has raised $30 million in Series C funding to further develop its additive manufacturing – or 3D printing – technology. 

The company is said to use materials and methods which can produce components which are as strong as steel, and produce them 10 times faster.

Siemens selects Blue Software for proofing and artwork annotation in its product lifecycle management software

Blue Software, a provider of design collaboration software, says its proofing and artwork annotation technology is now available as “advanced proofing” in the Siemens Teamcenter portfolio.

Siemens claims its Teamcenter is the world’s most widely used digital lifecycle management software.

Atos to acquire Siemens Convergence Creators

Atos, a technology company which has a huge interests in digitalisation of industry, says it plans to acquire Siemens Convergence Creators, a global multi-industry digital transformation solutions provider.

Atos says CVC’s highly skilled engineers and a total headcount of approximately 800 staff deliver software based solutions in the fields of communication networks, service and customer management, public safety and security, multimedia infotainment, as well as space technology.

Siemens buys Infolytica to further expand its product lifecycle management offering

Siemens has entered into an agreement to acquire Montreal, Canada-based Infolytica, expanding the company’s simulation suite into electromagnetics.

Infolytica is said to be one of the original pioneers in the field of simulating low-frequency electromagnetics and its market-leading simulation software is used by manufacturers worldwide to predict electromagnetic and thermal performance.

Yamaha Motor opts for Siemens product lifecycle management to digitalise industrial processes

Yamaha Motor has selected Siemens to provide product lifecycle management software to support its digitalization initiative.

Yamaha will deploy the Siemens’ Teamcenter portfolio across all development divisions of their key business, motorcycle products.

Siemens to establish global robotics research and development centre in China

Engineering giant Siemens is establishing a robotics research and development centre in China. 

The company says the facility will be a global research centre in autonomous robotics, and is part of its innovation strategy to “master technology fields that are critical for future success”.

Worldwide, Siemens is planning to spend $6 billion this year on R&D, and China is likely to represent a significant portion of that budget.

Siemens says the global research community in its China R&D centre will comprise experienced experts from around the world will focus on:

  • the research and development of new mechatronics systems,
  • human-robot collaboration; and
  • the application of artificial intelligence in robotic controllers.

Quest Global partners with Siemens to develop digital manufacturing solutions

Quest Global and Siemens have reached an agreement to build and deliver a suite of digital manufacturing solutions for customers across verticals.

By adding the Siemens digital twin offerings, Quest – which likes to write its name as QuEST – says it can now showcase a complete range of connected manufacturing solutions.
