Markforged 3D printers featured in BattleBots World Championship

Markforged, a provider of metal and carbon fiber 3D printers, says that four of its 3D printers were featured on BattleBots, a television series which premiered on June 7th on the Discovery Channel and June 12th on the Science Channel.

As the only 3D printer company hosted by BattleBots during filming, Markforged produced more than 160 parts for 29 teams onsite – all within the two weeks of filming.

Climbing Mount Everest with 3D printed parts

Björn Lindwall, CEO and founder of SolidEngineer, climbed Mount Everest using custom 3D printed parts made of Markforged Onyx material.

Ahead of the climb, Björn sat down with some of his team members to look at the equipment he would need.

Satellite communication was key for the expedition, so Björn set to work with one of his engineers to design a housing for the satellite communication equipment, along with updated crampons for lighter weight.

Markforged raises $82 million to bring industrial 3D printing to mass production

Markforged, a manufacturer of industrial 3D printers, has closed an $82 million Series D round of funding.

The round was led by Summit Partners with participation from existing strategic and financial partners, including Matrix Partners; M12, Microsoft’s Venture Fund; Next47; and Porsche SE.

MarkForged raises $30 million in new funding from Siemens and Porsche for 3D printing system

A company called MarkForged has raised $30 million in Series C funding to further develop its additive manufacturing – or 3D printing – technology. 

The company is said to use materials and methods which can produce components which are as strong as steel, and produce them 10 times faster.
