Kodiak Robotics integrates NXP chips into its autonomous truck technologies

August 26, 2025 by Mai Tao

Kodiak Robotics, a provider of AI-powered autonomous vehicle technology, and NXP Semiconductors have announced that Kodiak has integrated NXP’s automotive processors and in-vehicle networking interfaces to further enhance the performance, robustness, and reliability of Kodiak’s autonomous system.

NXP’s automotive solutions – the S32G3 vehicle network processor, S32K3 microcontroller, VR5510 multi-channel high-voltage power management integrated circuit (PMIC), and PF53 – are integrated in the Kodiak Actuation Control Engine (ACE), Kodiak’s custom-designed computer that manages vehicle actuation independently from the main autonomy system.

The ACE is designed to allow the Kodiak Driver, Kodiak’s AI-powered autonomous system, to run a safe fallback maneuver and bring a vehicle to a controlled stop if any safety-critical component of either the Kodiak Driver or the underlying vehicle platform fails. Autonomous racecar beats human-driven lap record at Autodromo di Modena circuit

June 24, 2025 by Sam Francis

The Indy Autonomous Challenge (IAC), a global university competition advancing autonomous technologies through high-speed racing, has once again made history. (See video below.)

For the first time ever, an autonomous vehicle has set a track record faster than one achieved by a human driver.

The milestone was achieved at Italy’s Autodromo di Modena, where an IAC AV-24 racecar, engineered by IAC and piloted by AI driving software from Unimore Racing, surpassed the previous lap record held by a Lamborghini Huracán STO. Watch the full video of this record-breaking autonomous lap here. [Read more…] about Autonomous racecar beats human-driven lap record at Autodromo di Modena circuit

Nissan to launch next generation autonomous driving technology in 2027

April 23, 2025 by Sam Francis

Nissan says it will launch its next generation autonomous driving technology – ProPILOT – from fiscal year 2027.

The system, featuring Nissan Ground Truth Perception technology with next-generation Lidar and Wayve AI Driver software, will “set a new standard” for autonomous driving with advanced collision avoidance capability.

Wayve AI Driver software, built on Wayve’s embodied AI foundation model, is designed to handle highly complex real-world driving conditions in a human-like manner. [Read more…] about Nissan to launch next generation autonomous driving technology in 2027
