Dexterity, a provider of enterprise physical AI and robotics, and Beckhoff USA, a pioneer in automation technology and creator of the EtherCAT fieldbus and Safety over EtherCAT (FSoE), have entered into a key supplier agreement for the design and development of Mech “superhumanoid robots”.
Beckhoff provides Dexterity with a wide range of technologies to enable advanced automation and kinematics in current and future robotic solutions such as Mech.
With many notable projects including a collaboration with FedEx and Sagawa Express to deploy truck loading and unloading robots, Dexterity currently has a $1.65 billion valuation and has been cited as being on the fast track to an IPO.
To continue this rapid business development and exceed the needs of high-profile material handling and intralogistics clients, Dexterity must ensure that its robots offer breakthrough performance, unmatched reliability, and above all, total safety in bustling warehouses and distribution centers.
“This is where Beckhoff comes in,” says Avinash Verma, Dexterity’s vice president of new product introduction, manufacturing, and supply chain. “Beckhoff has consistently supported Dexterity as a trusted provider of best-in-class automation and controls components and helps us innovate and differentiate.”
These technologies encompass many areas of robot control and communication behind the scenes. This includes powerful control technology that encompasses all hardware, software, and networking needed.
Beckhoff control hardware is exceptionally compact by design and accommodates space-constrained installation areas such as the inside of mobile robots and shuttles.
Many of the world’s largest retail and parcel companies have taken notice and are increasingly relying on Beckhoff technology. These same companies have tapped Dexterity’s physical AI technology, making the supplier agreement with Beckhoff a powerhouse robotics solution for end users.
Of course, even the best automation technologies only get you so far. The people behind the products also determine the success of a mission critical project.
To this end, Beckhoff provided top-shelf support with its US Special Projects Team (SPT). The seasoned SPT engineering pros worked side by side with Dexterity’s engineers as they implemented Beckhoff controls for kinematics, PLC, machine safety, and more together.
“Our global team is driven to help true innovators like Dexterity succeed with transformational technologies,” says Doug Schuchart, global intralogistics industry manager with Beckhoff.
“Our hardware and software stack enables Dexterity to scale with ease – whether creating new technology categories with the most advanced robotic solutions out there, or with more entry-level solutions that still need to deliver on the promise of reliability and performance at a reasonable cost.”
