Realbotix has introduced multilingual functionality to its flagship humanoid robot, Aria, enabling it to communicate in 15 core languages and more than 147 dialects in real time.
The US-based robotics company, known for its work in “emotional AI”, says the feature is aimed at expanding Aria’s use across global industries such as hospitality, healthcare, education, and entertainment.
Andrew Kiguel, Realbotix’s chief executive and a former investment banker, says the upgrade allows Aria to “build emotional rapport across cultures”, a key differentiator from many robotics companies focused on manufacturing or logistics.
Aria is a modular humanoid robot featuring lifelike synthetic skin and 14 or more expressive actuators. It combines speech and emotion recognition with cloud-based language support. Prices range from $10,000 for a bust model to $175,000 for a full-size humanoid, according to the company.
Realbotix says the multilingual update could allow robots like Aria to serve in roles ranging from concierge and teacher to caregiver and even spiritual advisor.
The company has not disclosed sales figures or deployment volumes, but said Aria is already being used in locations such as airports, hospitals, and shopping malls.
